80 days of action for the community
To mark the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (November 23, 1946 - November 23, 2026), the Lam Dong Provincial Red Cross Society has launched the “80 Days of Action for the Community” campaign from September 5 to November 23 under the message “80 Years - 80 Days - Spreading Action for the Community.” The campaign aims to mobilize social resources to support disadvantaged people in remote areas and border communities.

Spreading action for the community
The campaign is being carried out in three phases from September 5 to November 23, culminating in a review and the first “Community Day.”
Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, said many practical activities had been launched from the outset. A highlight is the “Supporting Children on Their Way to School” program in Quang Tan Commune, with a total value of nearly VND 900 million. The program includes the construction of a kitchen for semi-boarding students and three Red Cross houses, as well as scholarships, bicycles, gifts, and free dental examinations and treatment for 500 students.

Reflecting on her company's involvement in humanitarian work, Nguyen Cao Nhu Hien, a representative of Nha Y Duoc - Tam Sai Gon Dental Joint Stock Company, said: “Supporting humanitarian programs such as free dental check-ups and Mid-Autumn Festival activities for children in remote areas is both a responsibility and a source of pride for us. Seeing the children's bright, healthy smiles as they receive gifts and medical care gives us even greater motivation to keep spreading compassion and working with the community to create practical benefits and a brighter future for the younger generation.”

Alongside support for children, the Provincial Red Cross Society has also provided timely assistance to people affected by natural disasters and land subsidence. In Dak Snao Hamlet, Quang Son Commune, the society supported 79 households with cash and essential supplies. Following flooding in Ham Thang Ward on September 25, it distributed 100 gift packages worth a total of VND 100 million.
Building momentum through sustainable targets
The “80 Days of Action for the Community” campaign is designed to create lasting humanitarian value. The Provincial Red Cross Society aims for 100% of commune-, ward-, and special-zone levels to carry out at least one practical activity, with each local chapter registering at least one community-based humanitarian project or model, such as a Red Cross house, first-aid point, or clean water facility.
At the same time, all Red Cross staff, members, volunteers, and young participants are encouraged to carry out one act of kindness every day.

Nguyen Thi Xuan Tram, Chairwoman of the Duc Trong Commune Red Cross Society, said the chapter had coordinated with donors to distribute 200 gift packages worth a total of VND 100 million to poor and disadvantaged households in the area. Each package provided not only material support but also conveyed care, solidarity, and the community's spirit of mutual assistance.
To improve effectiveness and transparency, fundraising results, beneficiary numbers, and project progress are publicly updated through a digital monitoring system. Over the 80-day campaign, Red Cross chapters at all levels are both providing timely support to people in need and strengthening their role as a bridge for humanitarian assistance, helping build a more caring and supportive community.
Throughout the campaign, Red Cross chapters at all levels aim to build 13 Red Cross houses, organize 16 voluntary blood donation drives, encourage 80 people to register as tissue and organ donors, implement 80 humanitarian projects and models, contribute 80 innovative initiatives, and honor 80 outstanding stories of compassion.
