A Bridge of Compassion for People in Need
Under the theme “80 Years – A Journey of Compassion for the Community,” Humanitarian Month 2026 in Lam Dong Province concluded with many meaningful and practical achievements. Despite challenges arising from administrative restructuring and limited fundraising resources, Red Cross chapters across the province continued to serve as a vital bridge between donors and vulnerable individuals in need of support.

Improving Social Welfare
One of the highlights of Humanitarian Month 2026 was a series of free medical examinations, health consultations, and medicine distribution programs for low-income residents, ethnic minority communities, the elderly, and children living in remote areas.
Three mobile healthcare missions were organized, bringing essential medical services to hundreds of disadvantaged residents.
Voluntary blood donation remained a bright spot in humanitarian activities. Through nine blood donation campaigns, 1,193 units of blood were collected to support emergency care and medical treatment. In addition, charitable kitchens at healthcare facilities provided 16,130 free meals to poor patients and people in difficult circumstances.

The spirit of solidarity and mutual support was reflected in the distribution of 12,773 gift packages worth nearly VND 7.1 billion to disadvantaged and vulnerable groups throughout the province.
Behind these figures are many touching stories. Nguyen Thi Thanh, a resident of Lam Vien - Da Lat Ward, suffered a mild stroke but continues to sell lottery tickets to support her three children and seriously ill husband. She received VND 5 million in livelihood assistance to help improve her family’s income.
Another beneficiary, Tran Thi Bach Cuc of Lam Vien - Da Lat Ward, has been bedridden following a stroke for the past 17 years and has no family support. She received emergency assistance and was included in the Red Cross’s long-term humanitarian support program.
These practical acts of kindness not only eased the burdens faced by vulnerable individuals but also gave them renewed hope and determination to move forward.

Providing Sustainable Livelihood Opportunities
Alongside emergency relief activities, Humanitarian Month 2026 also reflected a significant shift from short-term assistance toward sustainable support.
Across the province, five humanitarian markets were successfully organized, providing quality essential goods directly to people in need. At the same time, resources were mobilized to build 20 houses for poor and near-poor households and complete 10 meaningful humanitarian projects.

One of the most impactful and sustainable initiatives was the provision of livelihood support to 149 low-income households, with a total value exceeding VND 831 million.
Rather than simply providing financial assistance, Red Cross chapters conducted detailed assessments of each family’s needs before supplying practical production tools such as sewing machines, overlock machines, fruit juicers, sugarcane crushers, pesticide sprayers, and livestock breeding stock.
These tailored forms of assistance help disadvantaged families build stable sources of income and work toward sustainable poverty reduction.
By the end of Humanitarian Month 2026, more than VND 10 billion in humanitarian resources had been mobilized across the province. These efforts directly supported and brought practical benefits to over 13,849 disadvantaged people.

One beneficiary was Hung Thi Thanh Tam from Hamlet 19 in Duc Trong Commune. After losing her husband to illness and while battling cancer herself, she has continued working to raise her two children. The local Red Cross chapter provided essential supplies, cash assistance, and scholarships to help ensure her children could continue attending school.
Expressing her gratitude, Tam said the support had helped her continue medical treatment while caring for her children and supporting their education.
The achievements of Humanitarian Month 2026, realized despite numerous challenges, reaffirm the important role of the Lam Dong Provincial Red Cross Society. The organization continues to serve as a trusted humanitarian partner, effectively connecting social resources to support vulnerable groups and contributing to the province’s social welfare goals.
