A program titled “Dance of the Sea” has recently been held in the southeastern area of Lam Dong to boost summer tourism and attract visitors to Phan Thiet – Mui Ne during the temporary closure of Lien Khuong Airport.

Fostering partnerships and refreshing tourism products

The six-month closure of the airport is expected to disrupt approximately 960,000 passenger trips, mainly affecting air travelers such as mid- to high-end visitors, international tourists, MICE groups, and travelers from distant provinces and cities. This poses notable challenges for the tourism sector and related services in the province.

In response, the Phan Thiet Sales Group Club organized a famtrip for travel agencies, transport providers, restaurants, and hotels nationwide to survey destinations, strengthen connections, and develop suitable tourism products for the Mui Ne market.

According to participating travel businesses, Mui Ne continues to attract visitors from Ho Chi Minh City thanks to its convenient travel distance. The destination also stands out with its long sandy beaches, white dunes, beachfront resorts, and diverse attractions that meet visitor demand.

The famtrip is organized every March to prepare for the summer tourism season and introduce new tourism products. This year’s program featured additional offerings such as the Silk Road route and the Mui Ne Hot Mineral Mud Center, helping strengthen ties between travel businesses and local service providers.

In coastal areas such as Mui Ne, Tien Thanh, La Gi, and Binh Thanh, visitor numbers are expected to rise this summer thanks to the strengths of marine tourism, water sports combined with leisure activities and eco-exploration. To seize this opportunity, localities and tourism businesses have been actively upgrading facilities, diversifying products, and introducing new experiences to enhance the appeal of the upcoming peak season.

Dang Minh Thai, Director of Bau Trang Minh Thai Tourist Area, noted that the period from April to September marks the peak summer season, with strong growth in group and family travelers. Businesses in Bau Trang are focusing on diversifying services and improving service quality to build a professional, friendly, and civilized destination.

Promoting stimulus programs to attract visitors

Alongside product innovation, tourism promotion activities have been intensified. In early April 2026, the province’s Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center participated in the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival 2026, showcasing Lam Dong’s tourism image and products.

The event provided an opportunity for localities and businesses to introduce services and promotional programs to visitors from Ho Chi Minh City and across the country, while preparing for upcoming peak periods such as the April 30 - May 1 holidays and the summer season.

At the same time, the provincial Tourism Association is encouraging businesses to join stimulus programs, offering service discounts of 20–30% for road travelers. Coordinated promotional packages are being developed, alongside enhanced digital marketing and collaborations with KOLs to broaden outreach.

The Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center continues to step up communication efforts during the airport closure, organizing famtrips and presstrips for media, KOLs, and travel companies from key markets. Promotional materials highlighting road-based and inter-regional tours, as well as intra-provincial products linking coastal and highland destinations, are also being developed.

Notably, a digital tourism map integrating information on destinations, services, accommodation, cuisine, and travel routes is being rolled out, helping improve visitor experience and access to information.

More than 40 enterprises have joined the stimulus program with a wide range of discounts and special offers.

In addition, a range of promotional programs—including discounts on accommodation, dining, and entrance tickets, as well as incentives for repeat visitors—are being widely implemented. To date, more than 40 businesses have joined the program, offering attractive packages valid through the end of 2026.
