Connecting tourism with agriculture

In recent years, many agricultural production models in Lam Dong have proactively expanded their operations by integrating tourism and experiential activities. Visitors are no longer limited to purchasing products; they can now directly observe cultivation, harvesting, and preliminary processing of clean agricultural goods.

This transformation is driven by growing demand for nature-based experiences and transparency in product origins. Nghiem Thi Kim Xuyen, a visitor from Ho Chi Minh City, shared that she particularly enjoys harvesting vegetables herself and listening to farmers explain cultivation processes, making her trips more meaningful and memorable.

Recognizing this trend, cooperatives and agricultural producers across the province have actively developed integrated models combining production with tourism experiences. According to Luong Thi Yen Van, director of a local agricultural cooperative, direct engagement helps visitors better understand the story behind each product, thereby strengthening trust and appreciation for clean agricultural goods.

Lam Dong currently has more than 900 valid OCOP (One Commune One Product) items, with over 500 participating producers. These products mainly include agricultural goods, food, and processed items, reflecting the province’s strengths in coffee, tea, vegetables, flowers, and medicinal plants.

Agricultural spaces are increasingly evolving beyond their traditional role as production sites. Many have become experiential destinations where visitors can harvest crops, taste products on-site, and learn about farming processes. This interaction transforms agricultural products from mere commodities into integral parts of a richer travel experience.

Transparency as a core value

Alongside expanding experiential activities, product quality and transparency in the production process remain fundamental. These factors are also driving a significant shift in farmers’ mindsets across the province.

Nguyen Van Dung, a local vegetable farmer, noted that while clean production requires greater effort, allowing visitors to directly observe the process highlights the value of strict compliance with standards. Consumer trust, he added, becomes a strong motivation to maintain consistent quality over the long term.

He emphasized that transparency not only improves income but also helps shape a more professional and responsible image of farmers who are committed to sustainable market engagement.

At the same time, consumer demand—especially among tourists—for safe and traceable products continues to rise.

When consumers can directly observe cultivation processes and select products at their source, their trust is strengthened in a clear and lasting way. As a result, the value of agricultural products increasingly lies not only in quality but also in transparency and verifiability.

Building on this foundation, Lam Dong’s clean agricultural products are steadily strengthening their position in the market—not only through traditional distribution channels but also through tourism-linked experiences.
