Building momentum to expand Lam Dong’s tourism market
With a series of large-scale cultural, sports and tourism events planned for 2026, Lam Dong Province is expected to gain new momentum for growth and further cement its position on Vietnam’s tourism map.

Key targets
The year 2026 holds special significance as it marks the first year of implementing the Resolution of the province’s Party Congress. According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Lam Dong is expected to host more than 110 cultural, sports, and tourism events throughout the year. These efforts aim to meet key socio-economic targets, including welcoming around 25 million visitors, of which 1.5 million are international tourists, and generating tourism revenue of approximately VND 71.5 trillion.
The sector will focus on building new development spaces linked with digital transformation, international integration, and sustainable growth, striving to position Lam Dong among the top five destinations in Vietnam by visitor numbers.

Since the beginning of the year, Lam Dong has welcomed over 3.6 million visitors. However, to maintain growth while Lien Khuong International Airport is temporarily closed for upgrades, the province has proactively developed response scenarios. Tourism authorities are placing greater emphasis on the domestic market and regional markets in Southeast Asia, which are less affected by global political fluctuations.
At a recent meeting with businesses in the cultural, sports, and tourism sectors, a representative of Vietravel Lam Dong noted that local tourism potential remains underutilised. Previously, tourism in Da Lat and Phan Thiet developed somewhat independently. Following administrative restructuring, the province should develop combined travel routes such as Da Lat – Phan Thiet – Mui Ne, creating seamless experiences between the highlands and the coast.
Many travel companies and investors have also proposed clearer policies to support tourism businesses, along with stronger promotional programmes and incentives for large groups, particularly the high-spending MICE segment.

A wide range of attractive activities
According to Vo Thi Hoang Yen, Deputy Director of the Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Centre, with the temporary closure of Lien Khuong Airport, the province will focus on developing road-based tourism, especially targeting visitors from from Ho Chi Minh City, the Southeast region, the Central Highlands, and the South Central Coast.
At the same time, Lam Dong will strengthen regional connectivity and collaborate with tourism associations and businesses to launch stimulus programmes such as discounts on accommodation, dining, and entrance fees for tour groups travelling by road.

Alongside these efforts, the province will host a series of major events to attract visitors, notably the 11th Da Lat Flower Festival, along with music programmes, sports events, and cultural festivals. The tourism sector will also focus on developing new tourism products, strengthening regional connections and refreshing destination promotion.
Each citizen is a tourism ambassador, contributing to building a friendly, safe, and attractive image of Lam Dong, while enhancing the competitiveness of the destination in the coming years
Dinh Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee
Currently, the Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Centre is working with travel companies to organise site surveys, strengthen destination connections, and innovate communication strategies. It is also promoting unique tourism products and developing new and competitive tour packages.
Familiarisation trips for media, businesses and KOLs are being organised to promote road tourism and inter-regional tours. At the same time, travel agencies, accommodation providers, transport services and attractions are strengthening their links to create all-inclusive tourism products that meet market demand while ensuring quality and reasonable prices. These initiatives will run between March and August 2026.
At a recent meeting on tourism development, Vice Chairman Dinh Van Tuan urged departments, localities and businesses to strengthen coordination, develop new tourism products and diversify travel routes. He also highlighted the importance of agricultural tourism, local specialties and distinctive souvenirs.
