Strong demand drives coastal travel growth

With a four-day holiday marking the start of Vietnam’s peak domestic travel season, coastal tourism is benefiting from rising demand for beachside relaxation amid hot weather conditions.

According to digital travel platform Agoda, Phan Thiet ranks among the top five most searched domestic destinations for the holiday, with search volume increasing by 72% year-on-year. Booking.com also reports that Mui Ne is among Vietnam’s 10 most-searched destinations among international travelers, with searches up approximately 20% from last year.

Lam Dong has gained new momentum in coastal tourism.

Accommodation providers in Mui Ne have recorded strong booking momentum, with many hotels and resorts reaching 60–90% occupancy rates, and some already fully booked during peak days from April 30 to May 2. Most visitors are opting for three-day, two-night packages.

Tourism operators note that the majority of travelers come from southern provinces, particularly Ho Chi Minh City, favoring short-distance trips due to rising travel costs and convenience offered by improved expressway connectivity.

Beyond traditional beach destinations, Phu Quy Island is also emerging as a popular choice, attracting younger travelers with experiences such as snorkeling, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) and fishing village tours. Favorable sea conditions during the holiday period are expected to bring approximately 12,000 visitors to the island.

Service quality and safety prioritized

To accommodate the anticipated influx, coastal tourism operators across Lam Dong province have enhanced infrastructure, staffing and service offerings.

Resorts and tourism businesses are rolling out promotional programs with discounts ranging from 15% to 20% to stimulate demand, while expanding recreational activities such as photo spots, water sports and family-oriented experiences.

Authorities have also strengthened regulatory oversight to ensure a safe and sustainable tourism environment. Measures include enforcing price transparency, maintaining environmental hygiene, ensuring food safety and enhancing rescue and emergency response capabilities.

Inspection teams will operate throughout the holiday to monitor service quality, prevent overcharging and control illegal solicitation activities at public tourist sites.

Tourism stimulus program supports growth outlook

The holiday period is expected to provide a strong boost to the tourism sector, serving as a launchpad for the summer travel season.

Lam Dong province has launched its 2026 tourism stimulus program, with around 100 businesses participating through promotional campaigns and service upgrades aimed at enhancing visitor experiences.

Local authorities expect coastal tourism to remain a key growth driver, contributing to the province’s target of welcoming approximately 25 million visitors in 2026.
