Creating New Experiences for Visitors

The expanded development space following the merger is creating opportunities for localities in the eastern part of Lam Dong Province to connect historical values, landscapes and community life into new tourism products. From festivals to cultural and sporting activities, each locality is gradually shaping its own story, contributing to an increasingly diverse tourism landscape.

From Community Activities to Tourism Products

In developing tourism, localities in the eastern part of the province are becoming increasingly proactive in leveraging their distinctive advantages. Many have introduced new events, created experiential spaces and incorporated cultural values into tourism products.

This was clearly demonstrated by the Kite Festival associated with the 2026 Welcome Summer event, held successively in Tien Thanh, Phu Thuy and Phan Ri Cua. The event showed how localities can renew their tourism appeal by building on existing strengths. The sea, wind and wide-open spaces have long been familiar to local residents. Yet, when combined with kite-flying activities, these elements created an experience that was both familiar and distinctive.

Along the beaches, colorful kites soared into the sky amid the cheers of children. Adults enjoyed the sea and took photographs, while families found another activity to experience together. The beachfront thus became more vibrant and evolved into a community gathering space. From there, localities are orienting tourism development toward products connected with local life, culture and the distinctive values of each coastal area.

Tran Thi Trung Trinh, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Tien Thanh Ward, said: “Moving from a mindset of simply exploiting natural resources to strategically developing and positioning the destination's image is essential for tourism development today. Accordingly, the locality will continue investing in and improving the landscape while developing new tourism products associated with nature, culture and community life to enhance visitor experiences.”

Expanding Spaces to Welcome Visitors

If a destination relies solely on natural landscapes, its appeal can quickly become familiar. But when landscapes are connected with local products, culture and people, every journey can offer a different story. The Fruit Festival in La Da Commune, held in early August, is a concrete example of this approach.

Over its two-day program, the La Da Fruit Festival welcomed thousands of visitors. What stood out was not only the number of visitors, but also the way the locality incorporated familiar fruits and local products into the festival space, allowing residents and tourists to experience them together. By bringing products closely associated with everyday life and local production into the tourism space, the locality is gradually creating new highlights and expanding its capacity to welcome visitors.

Tran Trung Hai, Chairman of the People's Committee of La Da Commune, said: “The expanded space following the merger has created many opportunities for the locality to capitalize on its existing strengths. On that basis, we are pursuing the integrated development of three key economic sectors through 2030: ecotourism, high-tech agriculture and spiritual-cultural tourism. This will gradually create distinctive tourism products and promote socio-economic development.”

The story of La Da shows that when agriculture, culture and tourism are connected, each locality can create its own distinctive product. The new development space following the merger is opening up greater opportunities for localities to link resources, complement one another and establish more diverse tourism routes and destinations. With more experiences, products and stories to explore, visitors will have more reasons to stay longer and return to Lam Dong.

Tourism development also helps preserve the distinctive cultural heritage of ethnic minority communities.

During a cultural and tourism survey in the southeastern area, Dr. Hoang Thi Binh, Deputy Director of the Institute of Culture, Arts, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, said the new development space offers significant advantages thanks to its diverse range of resources. If these resources are properly connected and their strengths effectively promoted, localities can create attractive chains of experiences, encouraging visitors to stay longer and motivating them to return.
