Cu Lao Cau – A Pristine Gem Amidst the Blue Sea

Cu Lao Cau, also known as Hon Cau, is a small island in Tuy Phong commune, Lam Dong province. Located about 110 km northeast of Phan Thiet, the island stretches 1,500 meters in length, with its widest point measuring 800 meters and the narrowest just 300 meters.

Appearing like a mighty battleship, Cu Lao Cau is surrounded by countless rock formations of varying shapes and colors. The island lies about 10 km from the nearest mainland point, and it takes 20–30 minutes by boat to reach. According to local fishermen, the island is home to an abundance of rau cau chan vit (a type of seaweed), which gave rise to its name, Cu Lao Cau. Scattered around the island are rock formations and beaches given poetic names by locals such as Love Cave, Fairy Bath Beach, Blissful Ravine, Coral Beach, and Ca Suot Beach—making the island an ideal destination for adventurous travelers and couples seeking a romantic getaway.

Thousands of uniquely shaped and colorful rocks interlock to form mysterious caves, while their hues shift throughout the day with changing light.
