Da Lat Steps Up Beautification Ahead of Flower Festival
By mid-October, designs for the floral displays planned for the 11th Da Lat Flower Festival 2026 were largely complete. The focus now is on bringing flowers to streets and public spaces in time for them to bloom during the festival.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, all 11 agencies and localities assigned to develop floral displays had completed their design concepts and mock-ups. The “Flowers in Every Home, Greenery on Every Street” campaign has also been taken up by 74 communes and wards, together with Dalat Hasfarm Co., Ltd.

Each Ward Takes a Different Approach
As a central area, Xuan Huong–Da Lat Ward faces a substantial workload. The ward has surveyed and designed floral displays for eight key streets, with 14 clusters of installations planned. A highlight will be a small Flower and Mural Park at the triangular public space on Truong Cong Dinh Street, combining floral design with visual art. The main challenge is balancing aesthetic appeal with traffic safety and residents’ daily activities.

Lam Vien–Da Lat Ward has translated the festival plan into eight programs. Two floral installations are planned at Nguyen Du Park and along the stretch from the iron bridge to the roundabout at Nguyen Tu Luc and Tran Quoc Toan streets. Six additional flower-lined streets are also being prepared, with all works scheduled for completion before October 31, 2026.
Each route has been assigned to a responsible unit, while businesses are being encouraged to contribute. Phu Dong Thien Vuong Street will feature a floral installation spelling out a welcome message for the festival. On Quang Trung Street, a display will evoke the Da Lat of earlier times. In the Co Giang heritage villa area, flower planting will be combined with architectural lighting.
Since August, the ward has also run the “One Residential Group, One Flower-Lined Street” competition, which continues through December 2026. Several streets have been selected for pilot upgrades to shopfront signs and advertising displays.
“We aim to create a brighter, greener, cleaner and more attractive environment by mobilizing businesses, community organizations and, above all, residents. Our goal is for every residential group to have a flower-lined street and every household to contribute flowers or greenery in celebration of the festival,” said Pham Van Phuc, head of the ward’s Economic and Infrastructure Division.
In Xuan Truong–Da Lat Ward, preparations are also underway. The ward has planted an additional 1,000 Da Lat cherry blossom trees and completed a route decorated with lighting, flags and flowers. D’ran Pass and the Trai Mat roundabout are among the first places visitors encounter when approaching Da Lat. Both locations are being upgraded with floral installations to create more striking arrival points.

Keeping Preparations on Schedule
Despite the progress, some agencies and localities have yet to complete detailed 3D designs and Gantt chart schedules for individual installations. These plans determine the types and quantities of flowers, materials and labor required, as well as planting dates to ensure the displays reach their peak during the festival. Delays could compress the remaining work into the final days, affecting both quality and appearance.
Some units, however, have started preparing ahead of formal approval. Nguyen Duc Thuan of Da Lat Urban Services JSC said the company had grown 64,000 pots of various flower varieties for decorative displays, replacement planting and new flower beds along roads and in parks. It had also ordered another 14,000 pots of commercial flowers from Dalat Hasfarm to add variety to the displays.
The company has completed pruning ornamental plants and trees and has carried out new planting in several parks.
“Although funding has not yet been secured, we have proactively ordered display structures and decorative installations, as well as new and unusual flower varieties. Once approval is granted, we will be ready to move the plants into place,” Thuan said.
To monitor progress, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has asked participating units to submit regular reports. The Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee has also repeatedly urged agencies and localities to accelerate preparations and deliver their projects on schedule.

Encouraging Residents to Grow Flowers
The “Flowers in Every Home, Greenery on Every Street” campaign has gained momentum, with central wards assigning responsibilities for individual streets and residential areas. However, turning an official campaign into flowers outside every home will require more active participation at neighborhood level.
Some residential groups have already begun taking action. Over the past weekend, residents in the Dang Thai Than and 3 Thang 4 neighborhoods organized street cleanups, improved environmental hygiene and planted flowers and trees. They also encouraged households to add flowers, refresh existing plantings and decorate their front yards ahead of the festival.

Accommodation providers, cafes and restaurants are also planning new decorations, flower beds and roadside plantings to welcome visitors. In Xuan Truong–Da Lat Ward, several residential streets have been cleaned up and improved to accommodate new flower plantings and refreshed displays.
Dinh Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee, said the 11th Da Lat Flower Festival would introduce new features and a renewed sense of momentum compared with previous editions.
“The festival is expected to reach a scale and level of quality befitting the newly expanded Lam Dong Province, while opening up further opportunities for local development,” he said.
