Determined to Increase Universal Health Insurance Coverage
With coordinated solutions in place, Lam Dong is committed to increasing universal health insurance, seeing it as a "protective shield" and a key step toward sustainable and humane social security, in line with the goals set out in the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress.

For many years, Mr. Tran Danh Cuong of Hamlet 3, Duc An Commune, has regarded health insurance as a “protective shield” for his own health. Suffering from illnesses including stomach disease, high blood lipid levels, and joint problems, he attends the Dak Song Area Medical Center every month for check-ups and treatment.
Mr. Cuong shared: “Without health insurance, the cost of medical examination and treatment would undoubtedly be very high. To keep my benefits, I renew my health insurance card before it expires.
Similarly, the family of Ms. Thi Sra from Bu Boong hamlet, Duc An Commune, regards health insurance as a partner in healthcare. She has voluntarily purchased health insurance for her entire family for many years, fully aware of the benefits it offers through local mobilization and communication initiatives.
Ms. Thi Sra stated: "My family feels more secure when seeking medical examination and treatment because of health insurance. To safeguard their health, I also urge family members and neighbors to enroll in health insurance.
According to Mr. Vo Quoc Tuan, chairman of the Duc An Commune People’s Committee, by strengthening advocacy and leveraging diverse resources to assist disadvantaged residents, the commune has attained a universal health insurance coverage rate of 92.3%. Notably, the trend of voluntary household enrollment continues to show steady growth.
Aiming for Health Insurance Coverage Above 95%
To achieve this goal, the province will continue to focus on implementing practical solutions in a coordinated way. First, Party committees and authorities at all levels will strengthen leadership and direction in implementing the roadmap toward universal health insurance coverage, treating it as a regular political task closely linked to the accountability of agency heads and including it as a criterion in annual emulation and performance evaluations.
With an emphasis on direct outreach to hamlets, residential groups, and ethnic minority areas, communication efforts will be flexibly strengthened through diverse formats and approachable content to help residents clearly understand their entitlements and the humane significance of health insurance policies.
To make health insurance easier to use, the health sector must also improve the quality of medical examinations and treatments at healthcare facilities, streamline administrative processes, and encourage digital transformation.
Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo, which focuses on enhancing the quality of medical examinations and treatment and building an efficient and sustainable healthcare system, will continue to be thoroughly implemented by the province. To safeguard and improve public health, efforts will be directed toward providing healthcare services, innovating management practices, and allocating resources efficiently..
At the same time, agencies, units, and localities will continue to mobilize various resources to support health insurance enrollment for disadvantaged and vulnerable populations, reducing their financial burdens and striving for sustainable universal health insurance coverage.
