Developing Logistics Infrastructure to Enhance the Value of Agricultural Products

Lam Dong Province has large and diverse raw material areas for key export products such as coffee, durian, dragon fruit, and aquatic products. However, its logistics infrastructure remains underdeveloped, with weak linkages to deep processing for agricultural exports.

High costs due to underdeveloped logistics

Dragon fruit, durian, and vegetables from Lam Dong are among the country’s leading agricultural exports, mainly shipped fresh to the Chinese market by road, requiring strict cold storage. Coffee, pepper, and cashew nuts are also largely exported in raw form, mostly via road transport.

Meanwhile, aquaculture products have gradually entered high-standard markets such as the European Union, United States, South Korea, and Japan.

However, the province still lacks inland container depots (ICDs), bonded warehouses, and a strong cold-chain system. Most logistics services are provided by companies outside the province, increasing costs and causing transport shortages during peak harvest seasons.

Developing logistics into a key infrastructure service

Lam Dong aims to develop modern, synchronized logistics linked with transport planning, trade infrastructure, and major production areas. The province plans to build logistics centers and regional dry ports along major highways and routes connecting to seaports.

Priority will be given to cold storage, preservation, packaging, and traceability systems to reduce post-harvest losses and improve export quality. At the same time, the province seeks to attract professional logistics enterprises and promote green, energy-efficient logistics using digital technologies.

Under the province’s 2026–2030 agricultural market development plan, logistics will play an important role in supporting agricultural consumption and exports. Lam Dong aims to develop logistics into a key infrastructure service sector that supports high-tech agriculture, processing industries, trade, exports, and tourism while increasing the value of local agricultural products.
