Developing Women’s Football in Lam Dong
Women’s football in Lam Dong is growing strongly in schools, with plans for provincial tournaments and stronger support ahead.

School football movementexpands
Women’s football is developing rapidly in many schools across Lam Dong Province. Young players like Nguyen Ngoc Han from Quang Lap Commune and Nahria Nai Ngan from Ka Do Commune have become standout members of their school teams, regularly winning medals at local tournaments.
Many female students now actively participate in football thanks to improved sports facilities. According to the Department of Education and Training, around 65% of schools in the province already have football fields, most of them artificial turf. This creates favorable conditions for developing school football, including girls’ teams.
Need for stronger investment
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Lam Dong organizes about 500 football tournaments each year, including around 150 women’s competitions, mainly in schools. The province currently has 40–50 women’s football teams with roughly 1,000–1,500 players.
However, most activities remain spontaneous and still lack stable funding and large-scale competitions. Provincial football officials say current resources are not enough to organize a provincial women’s football tournament.
Building a sustainable future
Local sports officials have proposed specialized coaching programs and regular provincial tournaments to create more opportunities for female players.
Huynh Ngoc Tam, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said Lam Dong will continue prioritizing school women’s football and gradually work toward forming a provincial women’s football team for national competitions.
The Vietnam Football Federation has also pledged concrete support measures to help boost women’s football development in Lam Dong in the near future.
