During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always paid special attention to tree planting and forest development, considering them important tasks closely linked to the nation’s long-term interests. His teaching, “For the benefit of ten years, plant trees; for the benefit of one hundred years, cultivate people,” continues to hold profound value today, serving as a guiding principle for localities in implementing environmental protection and socio-economic development programs associated with ecological sustainability.

Amid increasingly complex climate change and natural disasters, following President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings has become even more urgent, requiring strong participation from the entire political system and society as a whole.

In accordance with Plan No. 4466 dated April 3, 2026, issued by the Provincial People’s Committee, departments, agencies, and localities across Lam Dong Province have actively carried out preparations for the launching ceremony of the “Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh,” associated with the province’s concentrated forest planting and dispersed tree planting plans for 2026.

Immediately after the ceremony, 1,010 trees and flowers of various kinds were newly planted, contributing to improving the urban landscape and enhancing the quality of the living environment. The movement not only carries symbolic significance but also demonstrates the province’s determination to make tree planting and forest development a regular and long-term mission.

The Resolution of the 1st Lam Dong Provincial Party Congress for the 2025–2030 term sets a target that by 2030, the province’s forest area will reach 1,119,808 hectares, with forest coverage increasing to 46.2%.

The ‘Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh" should be widely promoted among the people with the spirit that ‘every household plants trees, every person plants trees,’ turning every agency, organization, and residential area into a green space, thereby helping shape Lam Dong’s distinctive ecological urban landscape.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee Chairman Ho Van Muoi emphasized that amid increasing impacts of climate change and natural disasters on forest ecosystems, tree planting and forest restoration must be implemented in a determined and synchronized manner.

The provincial chairman requested all levels and sectors to clearly define tree planting goals not only for greening purposes, but also for multiple objectives such as economic development, landscape improvement, and medicinal plant cultivation. At the same time, each locality should base its plans on local climate and soil conditions in order to select suitable tree species and ensure long-term effectiveness.

Le Thanh Son, Deputy Director of the Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Environment, said that planting trees and expanding forest areas are not only key tasks in environmental protection but also strategic solutions to improve the quality of sustainable growth in the locality.

For Da Lat in particular and Lam Dong Province in general, forests play the role of “green lungs,” helping regulate the climate, protect water resources, and create the region’s distinctive landscape.
