Over the years, the village has retained its simple charm. Set quietly along Huynh Thuc Khang Street and shaded by tall coconut trees, it opens onto a vivid seascape where hundreds of colorful fishing boats dot the water, creating a lively yet peaceful coastal scene.

Seen from above, the round basket boats look like small dots scattered across the blue water. They reflect the local way of life and make the scene even more memorable for visitors.

The village has a special charm that captivates visitors at first sight.

During a holiday in Mui Ne, Noah Zimmer and his family from Germany were captivated by the village’s dreamy scenery. He shared that they joined a jeep tour that took them to Fairy Stream, the Bau Trang sand dunes, and the red sand dunes, before stopping by the fishing village for sunrise. The view was breathtaking. They stayed much longer than planned, simply to take in its untouched and peaceful beauty. The colorful round basket boats left a strong impression on them—something they would always remember after leaving Vietnam.

Over the years, the village has also become a source of inspiration for many photographers. From the small, vibrant basket boats to sun-dried fishing nets and the quiet image of fishermen carefully repairing them, every detail captures an emotional moment. Together, these scenes offer an authentic glimpse into the daily life of coastal communities.

Boats return to shore carrying the sea’s fresh bounty

Early morning is the busiest time of the day. As the sun rises, the village comes alive. Boats return after a night of fishing, bringing fresh seafood such as fish, shrimp, and crabs. The sound of waves, engines, and people talking creates a lively atmosphere.

Onshore, traders gather early to buy seafood directly from the fishermen. The buying and selling happens quickly, with constant negotiation and movement. It is a clear sign of a productive day.

Nearby, a seafood market also caters to tourists. One distinctive feature is that seafood is often sold by the bowl rather than by weight. Visitors can choose from a wide range of options, from shellfish and squid to lobster and grouper. Vendors can cook the seafood on the spot or prepare it for takeaway.

On the shore, traders arrive early. As soon as fishing boats come in, bargaining begins and the area quickly comes alive.

Nguyen Van Hai, a local fisherman in Mui Ne, explained that as the main fishing season begins, the winds have eased, allowing more boats to head out to sea. In recent days, some fishermen have had particularly good catches of anchovies, while even small boats returning within the day have brought back plenty of seafood. With prices currently high, many fishermen are able to earn a decent profit.

Baskets filled with freshly caught fish, ranging from small coastal species to mackerel and sardines, are quickly sold to traders. The seafood is then sorted and transported to local markets, where it is sold to consumers.

Not far away, the seafood market for tourists is just as lively. One unique feature here is that vendors sell seafood in large bowls rather than by weight. Small shellfish such as snails and clams are often sold by the whole bowl, usually for a few hundred thousand dong.

The variety of seafood is impressive, ranging from lobster and mantis shrimp to squid and grouper, attracting visitors who come to explore and buy seafood as gifts. A vendor named Thanh Huong shared that during holidays and festivals, the market becomes especially busy. Many tourists stop by after visiting the fishing village to buy fresh seafood and enjoy it back at their hotels. For those who prefer to eat on the spot, vendors can cook the seafood by boiling or steaming, and they also offer packaging services for customers who want to take it home as gifts.
