From the highlands to the islands
Stories of marine economic development, community building, and the protection of national sovereignty left a lasting impression on officials from Tan Ha Lam Ha Commune during their “For the homeland’s seas and islands” journey to the Phu Quy Special Zone.

Sending warmth from the highlands to the islands
During their visit, officials from Tan Ha Lam Ha Commune gained insights into Phu Quy’s development journey through exchanges with local leaders. Once a remote island facing numerous challenges, Phu Quy has gradually emerged as an attractive tourist destination while successfully tapping into its marine economic potential and preserving its environment.
Representatives from Tan Ha Lam Ha Commune and the Phu Quy Special Zone exchanged experiences in governance, public administration, political system development and community welfare. They also shared stories of how local residents protect the marine environment, promote community-based tourism and work together to build a more prosperous hometown.
Although the two localities differ in their geographical and socio-economic characteristics, both share a common aspiration for progress and sustainable development as part of the newly expanded Lam Dong Province.
More than an opportunity for professional exchange, the visit fostered mutual understanding and solidarity among grassroots officials. The experiences and practical lessons shared along the way offered fresh perspectives and renewed motivation for both localities to continue building communities that are prosperous, modern and increasingly livable.

Do Thai Duong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Phu Quy Special Zone, said: “Each locality has its own conditions and strengths, but all share the common goal of serving the people and promoting sustainable development. The visit by the delegation from Tan Ha Lam Ha Commune provided an opportunity for both localities to strengthen ties and exchange practical experiences in operating the two-tier local government model.
We greatly appreciate the support and goodwill extended to Phu Quy by the Party organization, authorities and people of Tan Ha Lam Ha Commune"
Nurturing a love for the seas and islands
The journey was made even more meaningful through visits to the Vietnam Sovereignty Flagpole and Station 575 (Regiment 451, Naval Region 4). During the trip, the delegation met with officers and soldiers stationed at the outpost, presented a computer to Station 575 and participated in a flag-raising ceremony at the Vietnam Sovereignty Flagpole on Phu Quy.

Beneath the national flag flying proudly over the sea, members of the delegation reflected on the sacred meaning of national sovereignty. Stories shared by officers and soldiers stationed on the island provided a deeper appreciation of the sacrifices required to protect the nation's maritime frontiers.
The delegation donated two large national flags to Phu Quy, carrying with them the sentiments of people from the highlands to those living and serving at sea.
“This was a deeply meaningful journey for every member of our delegation,” said Giap Thi Thuy, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People's Council of Tan Ha Lam Ha Commune. “Beyond learning from local governance practices, we gained a deeper understanding of the lives and sacrifices of officers and soldiers stationed on the island.”
The journey from the Central Highlands to the open sea highlighted a bond that extends beyond geography. Each encounter served as a reminder that patriotism, national pride and the responsibility to protect the country's maritime sovereignty are values shared by communities across Lam Dong.
