Fruit and Vegetable Exports Show Strong Growth at The Beginning of The Year
According to the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association (VinaFruit), Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable export turnover has reached over USD 598 million since early January 2026, a 59.8% surge compared to the same period last year.

Imports amounted to approximately USD 399 million, an increase of 66.5% year-on-year, resulting in a trade surplus of over USD 199 million.
Building on the solid foundation established in 2025 and strong expectations for key products, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports are forecast to maintain their growth momentum with the goal of reaching USD 10 billion this year. However, the sector needs to closely monitor and adapt to new import regulations, particularly China’s Decree No. 280, to sustain official export channels
According to VinaFruit, in 2025, durian exports maintained the top position, reaching USD 3,86 billion, accounting for 45,09% of the total value of vegetable and fruit exports. This strong growth was driven by the expansion of growing area codes and official exports to China, as well as deeper penetration into high value-added markets such as the United States and the European Union.
In addition, coconut export reached nearly USD 534 million, while dragon fruits exports stood at about USD 526 million.The signing of the Protocol on the export of fresh coconuts to China created a significant boost for this product
Despite facing intense competition, dragon fruits remained among the leading export item thanks to a strategic shift to the India and Middle Eastern market. Other fruits, including mango, pomelo, passion fruit, and longan, recorded stable growth. Notably, passion fruit accounted for approximately 25% of the export product structure to the EU market.
