The 2026 Hung Kings Commemoration Festival will be held over two days, from 25–26 April (the 9th–10th days of the third lunar month), at Au Lac Temple in the Prenn Waterfall Tourist Area tourism complex (Xuan Huong - Da Lat Ward), creating a solemn atmosphere that honours the nation’s ancestral roots.

The festival’s ceremonial segment will be conducted in accordance with traditional rituals, including opening rites, an offering procession, traditional worship rituals, and incense offerings in tribute to the Hung Kings at the Upper, Middle, and Lower temples.

This is an occasion for people from all walks of life to express gratitude to the ancestors who founded and defended the nation, while strengthening solidarity among Vietnam’s ethnic communities in the spirit of shared national heritage.

The festive activities take place near Prenn Waterfall, featuring a wide range of cultural performances and traditional attractions rich in national identity.

These include competitions for decorating offering trays and flower arrangements dedicated to the national ancestors; folk games such as blindfolded gong striking, bamboo pole dancing, duck catching, and stick pushing; a rural food market serving rustic local dishes; tea appreciation art; Chinese chess contests; calligraphy demonstrations; exhibitions and hands-on experiences in making Dong Ho folk paintings; and performances of traditional arts such as Quan Ho folk singing, Xoan singing, and gong music.

For many days, the provincial People’s Committee has closely directed preparations, while the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has coordinated thorough and comprehensive arrangements with the participation of many departments, organisations, wards, and communes. Conditions regarding security, public order, healthcare, transport, and facilities have been ensured to deliver a safe, meaningful, and well-organised festival.

The Hung Kings Commemoration Festival will be held not only in central Da Lat but also at various locations across the province, from the highlands and flower-growing areas to the coastal region.

Venues include the Provincial Historical Site of Hung Kings Temple on Ngo Quyen Street, Cam Ly - Da Lat Ward; Hung Kings Temple in Phan Ri Cua Commune; and Hung Kings Temple in Tuy Duc Commune.

In addition, many communal houses and pagodas such as Kon Hinh Communal House and Van Phuoc Pagoda also hold solemn ceremonies for ethnic communities to offer incense in remembrance of the national ancestors.

The festival offers an opportunity to pay tribute to the Hung Kings and earlier generations who built and defended the nation, promote the tradition of gratitude embodied in the saying “When drinking water, remember its source,” and showcase the culture and people of Lam Dong, while reaffirming the enduring value of national cultural heritage in modern life.
