Innovation as a Driving Force for Lam Dong’s Growth

The PII measures local innovation capacity through 52 indicators grouped into seven pillars, covering both input factors—such as institutions, human resources, research and development, infrastructure, and business environment—and output results related to knowledge, technology, and socio-economic impacts.

With a score of 38.06, Lam Dong’s performance reflects effective governance and growing integration of science and technology into daily life, particularly amid recent administrative restructuring. Key strengths include supportive science and technology policies, strong cooperation between research institutions and enterprises, rising labor productivity, high employment rates, and the steady growth of science and technology businesses.

However, challenges remain in areas such as human capital quality, research and development, and market and business sophistication, which directly affect the province’s long-term competitiveness.

To address these gaps, the Department of Science and Technology has developed a 2026 action plan to improve the PII, viewing innovation as a shared responsibility across all sectors. Lam Dong aims to rank among the top 15–20 localities nationwide.

The province will focus on transitioning to a technology- and digital-based growth model by investing in digital infrastructure, promoting e-governance, improving the business climate, upgrading workforce quality, and encouraging enterprises to adopt advanced technologies.

Integrating innovation into socio-economic planning is expected to foster a dynamic startup ecosystem, support green and sustainable growth, and strengthen Lam Dong’s position in the next phase of development.
