Strong Growth in Vegetable and Flower Exports

After leaving a promising career at a foreign company a decade ago to invest in licensed chrysanthemum production, Vo Quoc Khoa has built a 30-hectare high-tech flower farm spanning Don Duong and Lac Duong communes. Equipped with modern production systems and advanced technologies, the farm generates annual revenues of approximately VND 2 billion per hectare.

Over the past year alone, the farm harvested more than 30 million chrysanthemum stems, with over 90% exported to Japan and the remainder supplied to domestic markets in southern Vietnam.

"Our chrysanthemum fields, located at elevations between 800 and 1,500 meters, benefit from favorable soil and climate conditions. By applying modern cultivation technologies, we have achieved stable yields and premium quality, allowing our products to compete successfully with chrysanthemums from other countries across Asian markets," Khoa said.

Alongside flowers, vegetables remain one of Lam Dong's flagship agricultural products. This is reflected at the Organic Agricultural Market on Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street in Lang Biang–Da Lat Ward.

According to Tran Huy Duong, founder of the Organic Agricultural Market and owner of a high-tech farming enterprise, the 6,000-square-meter marketplace serves not only as a venue for trading agricultural products but also as a platform where farmers and businesses exchange knowledge, adopt new technologies, and explore opportunities to expand high-tech agriculture both within and beyond Lam Dong.

After nearly 30 years of investment, Tran Huy Duong has expanded his business from small vegetable plots into a 30-hectare high-tech agricultural production zone across Lac Duong Commune and Lang Biang - Da Lat Ward.

His products meet both Vietnamese and international food safety standards and are distributed through premium supermarket chains and exported to European and Asian markets, generating billions of dong in annual revenue per hectare.

Recognizing these achievements, the former Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) named Tran Huy Duong among the first agricultural entrepreneurs nationwide to meet the country's criteria for high-tech agricultural application.

An Attractive Destination for Agricultural Investment

Lam Dong currently has 119,000 hectares of high-tech agricultural land, accounting for 14.7% of its cultivated area, including 1,400 hectares of smart farming. The province is home to 16 officially recognized high-tech cultivation zones and seven certified high-tech agricultural enterprises.

These strengths have enabled Lam Dong to develop nine major agricultural product groups with the largest production volumes in Vietnam, including vegetables, flowers, coffee, pepper, durian, dragon fruit, avocado, macadamia, and mulberry, reinforcing the province's growing competitiveness in agriculture.

By 2030, Lam Dong aims to become a leading center for high-tech and organic agriculture in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, expanding high-tech farming to more than 230,000 hectares. These comparative advantages provide a strong foundation for attracting long-term investment.

Based on its development potential and practical needs, the provincial agriculture and environment sector has identified improving competitiveness and enhancing the investment climate as key priorities for the 2026 - 2030 period.

The strategy focuses on restructuring agriculture by shifting from a supply-chain-based production model to value-chain development, while encouraging businesses to invest in deep processing, brand building, product traceability, and the expansion of production under VietGAP, GlobalGAP, and organic standards.

At the same time, the province is accelerating administrative reform and digital transformation while addressing obstacles related to land access and business operations. Efforts are being made to create a transparent, efficient, and secure investment environment that enables businesses to make effective use of land resources.

Authorities are also promoting land consolidation in suitable areas to encourage entrepreneurship, innovation, and stronger partnerships among enterprises, cooperatives, and farmers, thereby creating sustainable agricultural value chains and enhancing the value of Lam Dong's agricultural products.

Further improving the investment and business environment, resolving constraints related to land, environmental management, and infrastructure, and developing stable raw material areas linked to deep processing and value chains will be key to maximizing our advantages. These efforts will attract greater private investment, strengthen competitiveness, and support the sustainable development of Lam Dong's agriculture and environment sector during the 2026 - 2030 period.
