In early June, localities across the province simultaneously launched environmental protection campaigns with a range of practical activities. Through small and simple everyday actions, each resident is contributing to building a greener homeland.

From Call to Action

In response to the call from the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the emulation movement “All People Join Hands to Protect the Environment for a Green, Clean and Beautiful Vietnam,” a series of environmental protection activities were simultaneously launched across all 124 communes, wards, and special zones in the province on the morning of June 6.

From the early hours, streets, residential areas, schools, and parks became vibrant with the green shirts of youth union members, officials, association members, and many residents who took part in cleaning campaigns, tree planting, and landscape enhancement.

In Xuan Truong - Da Lat Ward, after the opening ceremony, participants and community members planted 300 cherry blossom trees in the area of the local War Martyrs’ Cemetery. The thoughtfully positioned trees not only enhance the natural scenery but also embody a commitment to protecting the environment for future generations.

At the event, Pham Thi Phuc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, stated, “Protecting the environment is a collective responsibility that involves all members of society, necessitating the proactive engagement of each citizen, every household, and the community.

This initiative not only aims to increase awareness and alter behaviors regarding environmental conservation but also fosters the unity of the nation towards the objective of sustainable and eco-friendly development.”

This principle is being put into practice through actions like waste separation at the source, reducing single-use plastic consumption, ensuring public cleanliness, and nurturing green areas in residential neighborhoods.

In recent years, committees of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at various levels in the province have incorporated environmental conservation into patriotic emulation initiatives and the campaign “All People Unite to Build New-Style Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas.”

Numerous successful models have been sustained, such as “Green – Clean – Beautiful Villages and Hamlets,” “Bright – Green – Clean – Beautiful Parishes,” and “Residential Areas for Sustainable Poverty Reduction, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change Adaptation,” which have played a significant role in enhancing the appearance of many rural and urban areas.

Spreading Green Communities

In addition to the activities during the launch events, many communities have implemented practical and context-sensitive strategies to enhance public awareness about environmental conservation.

In Da Teh 2 Commune, local officials organized a face-to-face discussion with residents on World Environment Day (June 5) regarding household waste management and the proper disposal of used pesticide containers.

In a friendly setting, residents offered practical recommendations such as expanding waste collection locations, increasing the frequency of collections, and tackling issues related to illegal dumping.

Truong Quang Lang, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Da Teh 2 Commune, stated, “Through our dialogue initiatives, the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the commune will continue to enhance its role in monitoring and providing social feedback, while collaborating with mass organizations to improve communication and encourage residents to adopt more civilized lifestyles, collectively working towards a greener, cleaner, and more beautiful community.”

Previously, local authorities also planted 3,000 yellow elderflower trees and 200 crape myrtles along the road to Hamlet 17, creating visually appealing scenery and improving living conditions.

In Hoai Duc Commune, the initiative for environmental protection has been implemented through various practical actions. The community has provided 30 public waste bins to local neighborhoods, assisted in setting up two “Green House” models in primary schools for collecting recyclable materials to generate funds, and distributed hundreds of eco-friendly shopping baskets to minimize plastic bag usage. Right after the launch event, officials, youth union members, and community members planted 50 white thingan trees.

When each person becomes a “green citizen,” each family a “green space,” and each residential area a “green community,” the environmental protection movement will no longer be limited to periodic campaigns but will become a way of life. From there, it contributes to building Lam Dong into an increasingly green, clean, beautiful, and sustainably developed province.
