Lam Dong Accelerates Free Health Screening Program for Residents
Lam Dong authorities are ramping up a province-wide initiative to provide free health screenings for residents, following a meeting chaired by Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Tuan on June 1.

According to the Department of Health, the legal framework, funding, and operational mechanisms for the program are now largely finalized. The provincial People’s Committee has issued multiple directives and allocated budgets to local authorities to facilitate the free screenings.
Under the current roadmap, Lam Dong aims to conduct health check-ups for 50% of its population within the first half of 2026. Localities will immediately prioritize screenings for children under six years old starting June 2, while concurrently scheduling check-ups for students, workers, and other target groups.

Operational Challenges
Despite the progress, the Department of Health noted that the initiative faces significant challenges due to the massive volume of patients and a tight timeline, which are stretching the limited resources of grassroots medical staff. Other key challenges include: Logistics: Formulating effective crowd-control plans and scheduling specific time slots for different demographic groups. Quality Control: Ensuring medical precision, particularly for cases requiring specialized, in-depth diagnoses. Digitalization: Managing the administrative pressure of updating patient data onto the national electronic health record system.

During the meeting, representatives from various provincial departments, sectors, and localities reported on their implementation progress and proposed solutions to meet the state targets.

Discussions focused heavily on inter-agency coordination among healthcare providers, local authorities, schools, and employers to streamline patient lists, ensure medical quality, and maintain up-to-date electronic health records.

Directives for Action
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Dinh Van Tuan commended the proactive preparation of local departments and localities.
However, he urged the People’s Committees of all communes, wards, and special zones to immediately direct local health stations to execute the screenings according to the schedule, aiming for universal healthcare coverage across the province.

The Vice Chairman ordered the Department of Health to continue advising the provincial government, actively monitoring the situation, and reporting any emerging bottlenecks for timely resolution. Related departments were also instructed to work closely with frontline units to ensure the project remains on track.

Furthermore, Vice Chairman Tuan demanded that local authorities collaborate with hospitals, medical centers, and educational institutions to establish clear, time-bound schedules. He emphasized the need to step up public communication, distribute invitations, and encourage residents to attend their scheduled appointments.

For the healthcare sector, the Vice Chairman requested that hospitals and medical centers strictly adhere to the Ministry of Health’s professional guidelines to guarantee accurate, objective results, while maintaining transparent data reporting based on actual field metrics.
