Lam Dong Adopts Global Family Planning Commitment Through 2030
Lam Dong Province has approved a comprehensive action plan to implement its commitment to the Global Family Planning (FP2030) initiative, aiming to expand equitable access to high-quality reproductive health and family planning services across the province by 2030.
The plan, issued by the provincial People's Committee on July 8, aligns Lam Dong with Vietnam's national commitments under the global Family Planning 2030 partnership.
The initiative aims to ensure full, safe, equitable, and high-quality access to family planning services. While the program encompasses all men and women of reproductive age, provincial authorities highlighted adolescents and youths as the primary focus groups.
- Under the plan, Lam Dong aims to ensure that by 2030:
- 100% of women of reproductive age have convenient access to modern contraceptive methods;
- Unintended pregnancies among adolescents and young people are reduced by two-thirds compared with 2025 levels;
- 90% of family planning service providers meet national quality standards; and
- All commune-level health stations continue providing clinical family planning services while maintaining community-based distribution of non-clinical contraceptive methods through the province's population collaborator network.
To meet these targets, the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee will deploy a comprehensive set of measures. These include expanding access to modern contraception, integrating digital technology into healthcare management, and streamlining reproductive and sexual education within the school system.
Furthermore, the province will reinforce its grassroots healthcare network and promote socialization. Funding for the master plan will be integrated from the state budget and the National Target Program on Healthcare, Population, and Development for the 2026–2035 period.
The Lam Dong Department of Health is the designated standing agency for this initiative. The department will lead all coordination and execution efforts. It will also monitor progress alongside relevant sectors and local People's Committees to ensure all socio-medical goals are met.
