Lam Dong Advances Agricultural Traceability System in 2026
Lam Dong Province has officially launched its 2026 plan to implement traceability systems for agricultural, forestry, and fishery products under a directive signed by Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Le Trong Yen.
The plan aims to effectively deploy the national “Agricultural Product Traceability System” under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment across the province. The initiative is expected to enhance transparency, strengthen state management of food quality and safety, and expand market access while increasing the commercial value of local agricultural products.
By ensuring clear product traceability, the system will also help protect consumer rights, reinforce Lam Dong’s agricultural brand, and create a solid foundation for export growth and deeper international integration.
A key objective is to raise public awareness of the importance of traceability, encouraging producers and businesses to actively participate in and efficiently operate the system. This effort is closely tied to improving food safety standards and safeguarding public health.
The province also plans to accelerate the adoption of quality standards in production, while expanding the issuance of planting area codes and packaging facility codes in line with international requirements, targeting an increase of about 20% over 2025.
In parallel, authorities will focus on building a comprehensive database of farming households and implementing QR-code traceability for each durian product or batch to meet export market standards and improve supply chain transparency.
To support implementation, Lam Dong will pilot a digital traceability platform for durian in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, with plans to gradually extend the system to other key and export-oriented products. Inspection and monitoring mechanisms will also be strengthened to ensure compliance.
Additional measures include communication campaigns, training programs, certification support, assistance in obtaining planting area codes, and efforts to connect producers with consumption markets.
Funding for the program will come from the state budget, integrated with existing projects and initiatives, and supplemented by resources mobilized from organizations and individuals where available.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment has been assigned as the lead agency, responsible for advising and assisting the provincial authorities in managing traceability activities in accordance with legal regulations, while other departments and localities will coordinate the implementation.
Currently, Lam Dong has 42 facilities applying traceability systems and more than 250 using electronic labels. The adoption of traceability stamps has significantly reduced brand counterfeiting, strengthened market trust, and enhanced the competitiveness of local agricultural products.
