Lam Dong Province is promoting OCOP products ranging from seafood to coffee and macadamia to expand market access and stimulate consumption ahead of the 2026 Lunar New Year.

Advantages of Product Traceability

As the Lunar New Year approaches, markets become crowded with a wide array of food and consumer goods, many featuring attractive seasonal designs and packaging. For increasingly discerning consumers navigating this “maze” of products, key priorities remain unchanged: quality, presentation and clear product origin—areas where OCOP products hold a clear advantage.

In addition to the proactive efforts of producers, local authorities in areas with signature products have stepped up their support. In Phan Thiet Ward, for example, an OCOP product exhibition and experience event was held at the People’s Committee headquarters ahead of the 2026 Lunar New Year. Enterprises and production facilities showcased local strengths, particularly seafood-based OCOP products such as fish sauce, tamarind-glazed fish and traditional banh re.

According to the Phan Thiet Ward People’s Committee, the event combined product displays and consumer experiences with meetings, dialogues and business-to-distributor networking. The initiative reflects local efforts to promote trade, expand market access, and enhance the value and competitiveness of OCOP products.

Through such activities, OCOP producers gain clearer insights into market demand, purchasing standards and requirements for entering distribution systems. At the same time, distributors are provided with a practical basis to assess and select suitable products, gradually building long-term cooperative partnerships.

At the Hoa Le Clean Dragon Fruit Cooperative (Ham Thuan Commune), each Lunar New Year season presents an opportunity to expand market reach. Three- and four-star OCOP products processed from dragon fruit—such as candied fruit, cakes and wine—are attractively packaged into gift baskets for consumers to purchase as holiday presents.

According to OCOP producers, clear product origin and traceability play a crucial role in building consumer trust. Similarly, a four-star OCOP macadamia product from Quang Truc Commune, equipped with QR codes for origin tracing and eye-catching packaging, has become a popular choice during the Lunar New Year shopping season.

Supporting OCOP Producers

Recent assessments by the Provincial People’s Committee indicate that the OCOP program has increasingly become a driving force for rural economic development, leveraging the specific potentials and advantages of each locality. Many Lam Dong OCOP products have gradually established a solid position in the market, contributing to the promotion of local agricultural brands and regional cultural identity.

However, challenges remain, including small-scale production, weak value-chain linkages and limited trade promotion activities. As a result, promoting production linkages along value chains—integrating processing and consumption—has been identified as a key solution. At the same time, the province continues to focus on improving the quality of the OCOP program, supporting producers in product refinement, brand building and market expansion both domestically and beyond, with a long-term orientation toward exports.

In this context, strengthening connections between OCOP producers and the market—particularly during the Lunar New Year—opens significant opportunities for Lam Dong’s OCOP products to further expand their market presence.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, as of 2025, Lam Dong Province had 926 OCOP-certified products, including 75 four-star and 844 three-star items. In January 2026, the department awarded OCOP certificates issued by the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee to 47 products from 30 producers, comprising 13 four-star and 34 three-star products.
