Lam Dong Completes Coffee and Rubber Farm Data to Meet EUDR Requirements

The Department of Agriculture and Environment has been tasked with leading and coordinating efforts with relevant agencies to assist businesses, cooperatives, and producers in gathering traceability and geolocation information for coffee and rubber production regions in order to comply with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

As part of this initiative, agencies overseeing production areas will gather and verify geolocation data, farm boundaries, crop details, producer information, and supply chain documentation. The People's Committees at the commune level will verify the accuracy of production site details, current land-use situation, and cadastral information to ensure compliance with the EUDR requirement that commodities must not be sourced from lands that have been deforested after December 31, 2020.

The initiative also seeks to standardize and gradually combine production-area data with cadastral databases, forest reference data, and other relevant information systems. Emphasis will be given to areas, production zones, and businesses that already have baseline data and adequate resources for implementation.

Data will be categorized into three types: public data, restricted government data, and proprietary business data, which includes customer details and commercially sensitive information. Data governance regulations will outline the purpose of data use, responsible management entities, access permissions, retention periods, backup procedures, data modification rights, access revocation procedures, incident response protocols, complaint resolution processes, and accountability for data breaches, misuse, or unauthorized sharing.

In the former Di Linh District, officials will carry out an inventory and quality evaluation of rubber production-area data collected earlier from companies, development initiatives, and support organizations. This assessment will determine the sources of data, ownership and usage rights, conditions for data application, and interoperability before the information is integrated into official management systems.

The database will support government oversight, information verification, and integration with national and sector-specific information systems. Additionally, it will streamline the verification and documentation needed to demonstrate compliance with the EUDR for individual supply chains and export shipments, in accordance with importing market requirements.
