Lam Dong expands external relations, elevates its position in global integration
In recent years, Lam Dong has steadily expanded its external affairs, strengthening the province’s standing and supporting socio-economic development amid deepening international integration.

Expanding partnerships to drive growth
Located at the southern gateway of the Central Highlands, Lam Dong holds a strategic position in regional connectivity and international trade. With a wide geographic span, the province benefits from strong links to the Southeast and South Central Coast regions, while also sharing a land border with Cambodia.
These advantages enable Lam Dong to act as a bridge for economic, cultural, and international cooperation—particularly in cross-border trade and strengthening ties with neighboring localities.

In addition, Lam Dong’s highland terrain, year-round temperate climate, and increasingly modernized infrastructure provide favorable conditions for high-tech agriculture, eco-tourism, and resort development. Its unique geography also supports broader development space, helping balance economic growth with cultural and environmental sustainability.
With these foundations, Lam Dong is well-positioned to emerge as a new regional growth pole, driven by strategic sectors such as green tourism, high-tech agriculture, processing industries, and services. These pillars underpin the province’s efforts to expand external relations and attract resources for sustainable development.

In recent years, external affairs have seen both broader scope and improved quality. Guided by a proactive, flexible, and effective approach, Lam Dong has gradually built a diverse international cooperation network aligned with its development priorities.
Regular delegation exchanges and experience-sharing initiatives in governance, economic development, and socio-cultural fields have strengthened solidarity, friendship, and mutual understanding.

At the same time, the province has actively expanded ties with potential international partners. Establishing cooperative relations with foreign localities has opened new opportunities for investment attraction, trade, tourism, and cultural exchange—diversifying partnerships and enhancing adaptability in a globalized environment.
Notably, since July 1, 2025, the Department of Foreign Affairs has advised the provincial People’s Committee on consultations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies regarding international agreements with four foreign localities: Sancti Spíritus (Cuba), Mondulkiri (Cambodia), Vitebsk (Belarus), and Konya (Turkey).

Investment, trade, and tourism promotion have been implemented in tandem with external relations. Through participation in international events, Lam Dong has effectively promoted its potential, strengths, and investment environment, thereby enhancing its image and appeal to foreign investors.
Engagement with overseas Vietnamese communities has also been strengthened, encouraging expatriates to contribute to the province’s development.
Enhancing integration efficiency for Sustainable Development

External affairs in Lam Dong have not only expanded in scale but also deepened in substance, delivering tangible outcomes. Cooperation with Lao and Cambodian localities has been reinforced through partnerships with Champasak and Bolykhamxay (Laos) and Mondulkiri (Cambodia), contributing to a peaceful, stable, and friendly relations.

At the same time, Lam Dong has proactively established and expanded relations with new international partners such as Chuncheon (South Korea), Vitebsk (Belarus), and Konya (Turkey). These efforts are gradually forming a diversified cooperation network, opening avenues for investment, trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.

Entering 2026, the province’s external affairs continue to maintain strong momentum, achieving significant results. Relations with traditional partners have been consolidated, while new partnerships are being expanded in a more substantive and effective manner.
Since July 1, 2025, authorities have approved the organization of 30 international conferences and seminars in the province.

Lam Dong is focusing on developing memoranda of understanding and action plans for the 2026–2030 period with international partners, creating legal frameworks and clear directions for future cooperation. Priority areas include high-tech agriculture, high-quality tourism, green urban development, and environmental protection.

International investment promotion activities continue to evolve in both content and approach, with an emphasis on selecting capable partners aligned with sustainable development goals. Priority is given to high-tech, environmentally friendly projects that enhance added value and economic competitiveness.
The mobilization and management of ODA and foreign non-governmental aid have also been effectively implemented, providing important additional resources for development. International cultural and tourism activities further contribute to promoting the province’s image and elevating its global profile.

Building on these achievements, Lam Dong is committed to advancing comprehensive international integration in the coming period. Key priorities include strengthening economic diplomacy, expanding export markets, selectively attracting foreign investment, and innovating cultural diplomacy and external communications.

With a clear strategic direction and proactive implementation, Lam Dong’s external relations are expected to remain a key driver of socio-economic development, steadily enhancing the province’s position regionally and globally.
