Algosaibi; and representatives from provincial agencies, local authorities, business associations, and enterprises.

In his opening remarks, Vice Chairman Dinh Van Tuan said the seminar offered an important opportunity for local authorities, businesses, and research institutions to gain deeper insights into a highly promising market, especially as Vietnam continues to strengthen international economic integration and expand cooperation with Muslim-majority countries and emerging markets.

Under the national project on strengthening international cooperation to develop Vietnam's Halal industry by 2030, Lam Dong has actively promoted communication, trade promotion, and business support activities to help enterprises access Muslim markets.

The province has also laid the foundation for its Halal ecosystem. It currently has 38 Halal-certified businesses and establishments operating in agriculture, food processing, and tourism.

During the first five months of 2026, Lam Dong's exports to Muslim markets reached approximately USD 40 million, while imports from Muslim-majority countries totaled around USD 60 million.

Vice Chairman Dinh Van Tuan acknowledged that despite its strengths in high-tech agriculture, eco-tourism, agri-tourism, and specialty products, Lam Dong still faces challenges in expanding its presence in the Halal market. He described the seminar as an opportunity for the province to find the "key" to joining the global Halal supply chain.

Expanding Opportunities in a Fast-Growing Market

Speaking at the seminar, Nguyen Phuong Tra, Director General of the Middle East and Africa Department, said the Halal market is emerging as one of the world's fastest-growing and most dynamic markets.

With a global Muslim population of around two billion people, demand for Halal products and services has expanded far beyond food to include tourism, hospitality, finance, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and e-commerce.

This presents a tremendous opportunity for Vietnamese localities and businesses in general, and Lam Dong in particular, to expand exports, diversify partnerships, and integrate more deeply into global supply chains.

Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Vietnam Thamer Mohammed A. Algosaibi praised Lam Dong for hosting the seminar and noted that Vietnam has made positive progress in developing its legal framework, standards, and ecosystem for the Halal industry.

The Ambassador also introduced Saudi Arabia as an important geographic and religious center of the Islamic world and one of the region's leading economies.
