Lam Dong Province is exploring opportunities to expand cooperation in renewable energy with International Renewable Energy Investment Joint Stock Company, with discussions focusing on the operation of an existing wind power project and a proposed integrated energy complex combining thermal power, wind power, solar power and energy storage.
On October 15, Nguyen Hong Hai, Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee, chaired a meeting with a delegation from International Renewable Energy Investment Joint Stock Company to discuss ongoing energy projects and potential investment cooperation in the province.

According to information provided by the company, the total installed capacity of overseas projects managed by the division is approximately 9,460 MW, with clean energy accounting for 81%.
Citing Lam Dong’s potential for developing new energy sources, particularly wind and solar power, the company expressed interest in expanding cooperation and participating in energy investments to make better use of local resources and support socio-economic development.
One priority discussed was resolving outstanding issues affecting the commercial operation of Phase 2 of the Phong Dien I – Binh Thuan Wind Power Project. The company proposed coordination with relevant authorities to address these issues and facilitate the project’s operation.

The company also presented a proposal for a project titled “Binh Thuan Integrated Thermal, Wind, Solar and Energy Storage Complex Combined with Offshore Wind Power.” The discussion covered planning options, proposed investment scale, construction costs and anticipated socioeconomic benefits.
The company sought guidance and coordination from the provincial government and relevant departments as it continues to study the proposal and prepare the necessary procedures. The proposal remains subject to further consideration under applicable planning and legal requirements.

Provincial Agencies to Coordinate on Project Procedures
Representatives of provincial departments and agencies clarified issues raised by the company and discussed matters relating to the implementation of the existing project and the assessment of new investment proposals.

Concluding the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman Nguyen Hong Hai asked relevant departments and agencies to coordinate closely with the company and provide timely guidance on administrative procedures in accordance with regulations.
He also called on agencies to proactively discuss and clarify difficulties within their respective areas of responsibility, helping the company understand the applicable rules and procedures for project implementation.
For new investment proposals, the relevant authorities are to coordinate in studying and reviewing the projects in line with provincial planning, development priorities and current laws.

The meeting provided an opportunity for Lam Dong authorities and the company to exchange information on an ongoing energy project and potential new investments. The discussions are expected to support further coordination and assessment of possible cooperation in the energy sector.
