Following the merger of Lam Dong, Dak Nong, and Binh Thuan provinces, the newly expanded Lam Dong Province is in the process of stabilizing its organizational structure and administrative system. However, the restructuring has also created significant pressure related to housing, transportation, and daily living expenses for many officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers.
According to Lam Dong Department of Finance Director Ton Thien San, around 1,794 officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers from different localities have been reassigned to work at the Provincial Administrative Center. Many have had to rent accommodation, travel long distances, or work far from their homes, leading to significantly higher living costs.

Previously, the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Council issued two resolutions in 2025 to support travel expenses, housing rentals, and living stabilization for officials affected by the administrative restructuring. The total funding for the 12-month support period, from July 2025 to June 2026, exceeded VND 186 billion, including more than VND 150 billion from the provincial level and over VND 35 billion from the commune level.
According to assessments by the Provincial People’s Committee and the Economic and Budget Committee of the Provincial People’s Council, these policies have helped the administrative system operate stably after the merger. However, many officials have yet to stabilize their living arrangements, while transportation and living expenses remain a major burden.

Under a resolution approved by the Provincial People’s Council on May 12, 2026, officials from the former Dak Nong and Binh Thuan provinces who have been reassigned to the Political and Administrative Center of Lam Dong Province will continue receiving housing and transportation support for another 12 months.
Specifically, officials working at the provincial administrative center will receive VND 3 million per month for housing rent and VND 2 million per month for travel expenses. Officials reassigned or seconded to commune-level positions will receive transportation support ranging from VND 1 million to VND 2 million per month depending on travel distance. Those who must rent accommodation and work at locations at least 30 kilometers away from their homes will receive an additional VND 1 million per month.
This round of support will be paid monthly together with salaries, instead of as a one-time payment as previously applied. The estimated budget for the new policy is approximately VND 144 billion, including around VND 129 billion from the provincial budget and VND 15 billion from commune-level budgets.
According to the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Council, the extension of the support period aims to ease financial pressure on officials following the administrative restructuring, helping stabilize human resources and improve the operational efficiency of the local administrative system.
