According to Truong Van Tung, Chairman of the Lam Dong Farmers’ Union, the congress marks an important milestone for farmers across the country in general and for Lam Dong’s farming community in particular.

The congress has set out the goal of building a strong Vietnam Farmers’ Union while affirming farmers as the central stakeholders in agricultural development, rural economic growth and new-style rural development. It also seeks to inspire aspirations for a prosperous, civilized and happy nation in a new era.

Digital Transformation and Green Agriculture as Strategic Priorities

As one of Vietnam’s leading agricultural localities, Lam Dong is undergoing a significant transformation toward a green and sustainable agricultural model, in which farmers continue to play a central role in rural development.

For the new term, the provincial Farmers’ Union has identified digital transformation as a top priority. We will guide farmers in participating in e-commerce platforms and applying digital technologies in production management, product traceability and market connectivity.

According to Truong Van Tung, the union has proactively integrated digital transformation into the movement promoting excellent production and business performance among farmers. The organization has actively supported farmers in accessing digital technologies and helped thousands of farming households establish accounts on e-commerce platforms to introduce, promote and sell agricultural products.

Many outstanding farming households have boldly adopted high-tech solutions in production. These efforts have enabled farmers to access new markets, reduce dependence on intermediaries and increase the value of agricultural products.

The Chairman of the provincial Farmers’ Union emphasized that the organization is continuing to improve the effectiveness of the excellent production and business movement while linking it with collective economic development, digital transformation and green, sustainable agriculture, thereby contributing to Lam Dong’s goal of achieving double-digit economic growth in the coming period.

Alongside these efforts, the union has intensified awareness campaigns encouraging members and farmers to transition toward safe, organic, circular and environmentally friendly production models.

The province has implemented initiatives such as “Sunday for the Environment,” “Green Gardens, Clean Gardens, Waste-Free Gardens,” “Exchange Used Pesticide Packaging for Gifts,” “Turning Waste into Money,” and “Responsible Farmers.”

These models have helped raise awareness and encourage positive changes in farming practices across local communities.

Maintaining Leadership in High-Tech Agriculture

Lam Dong continues to reinforce its leading position in Vietnam’s agricultural sector, with more than 107,000 hectares under high-tech agricultural production. High-tech agricultural products currently account for approximately 80% of the province’s total agricultural export value, making Lam Dong a national benchmark for modern and sustainable agricultural development.

Looking ahead to the new term, delegates from Lam Dong expressed their hope that the congress will introduce practical solutions and strategic directions for developing agriculture, farmers and rural areas, particularly in border regions and ethnic minority communities.

Reducing development gaps between mountainous and lowland areas, building a modern and sustainable agricultural sector, and strengthening the role of farmers as central actors in rural development remain key priorities. These efforts are expected to help Lam Dong move confidently into a new era of growth and prosperity.

Currently, Lam Dong has 348,600 Farmers’ Union members, representing 85.2% of all agricultural households in the province.

The province has proposed that the Government continue improving mechanisms and policies supporting high-tech agriculture, green agriculture and the circular economy. Priority measures include preferential policies on credit, land access, taxation and agricultural insurance, enabling farmers and cooperatives to invest more confidently in modern and sustainable production models.
