Leveraging strengths in industry, agriculture and tourism
The provincial leader stressed that following the administrative merger and expansion of development space, Lam Dong now possesses significant advantages across multiple sectors, particularly industry, high-tech agriculture and tourism.
In the industrial sector, Lam Dong has substantial potential in mineral extraction, deep processing and energy development. The province is estimated to hold approximately 5.4 billion tonnes of raw bauxite reserves. If current plans proceed as scheduled, Vietnam’s first domestically produced aluminum is expected to be manufactured at the Nhan Co area on July 2, 2026.

In high-tech agriculture, Lam Dong possesses the country’s largest agricultural production area, covering more than 1.054 million hectares. The province is strengthening cooperation with enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City and other major economic centers to establish formal distribution channels for Lam Dong’s agricultural products in southern markets.
Tourism remains another key growth pillar. With its unique combination of forests, highlands and coastal resources, Lam Dong is well positioned for tourism expansion. The future operation of both Phan Thiet and Lien Khuong airports, together with upgraded strategic transport corridors, is expected to significantly improve accessibility and support tourism growth.

Alongside its strengths, Lam Dong continues to face several challenges, including limitations in transportation infrastructure, digital infrastructure and the availability of high-quality human resources.
Under these circumstances, provincial leaders believe Lam Dong must pursue comprehensive reforms and innovation across all sectors.
Following the conference, departments, agencies and local authorities were encouraged to maintain close engagement with experts, scientists and policymakers in order to transform strategic recommendations into practical development solutions for their respective sectors.
Lam Dong hopes to continue receiving support, cooperation and partnership from the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, experts, scientists and the investment community throughout the process of building and implementing the province’s new development model.
