Lam Dong Holds Press Conference on Socio-Economic Performance in the First Half of 2026

The Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee held its regular press conference on the morning of July 3 to announce the province's socio-economic performance in the second quarter and the first six months of 2026, while discussing key tasks and solutions for the remainder of the year.

The press conference was chaired by Nguyen Ngoc Phuc, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee.

Participants included representatives of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lam Dong Province, the Provincial Party Committee's Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilization, leaders of provincial departments, agencies and organizations, the Lam Dong Journalists Association, Lam Dong Newspaper and Radio-Television, Lam Dong Literature and Arts Magazine, as well as representatives of central and local media organizations operating in the province.

Economy Records Strong Growth in the First Half of 2026

At the press conference, the Provincial People's Committee announced the province's key socio-economic achievements in the second quarter and the first six months of 2026.

Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) was estimated to grow by 7.97% compared with the same period last year. Agriculture, forestry and fisheries expanded by 5.3%, industry and construction increased by 9.2%, while the service sector recorded growth of 8.65%.

During the first six months of the year, state budget revenue was estimated at VND 18.6 trillion, fulfilling 57.6% of the central government's target and 54.2% of the provincial target.

Total social investment reached approximately VND 51.2 trillion, up 12.7% year-on-year. Export turnover was estimated at US$1.6 billion, while public investment disbursement reached VND 2.0743 trillion, equivalent to 13.95% of the plan assigned by the Prime Minister.

High-Tech Agriculture Continues to Expand

The agricultural sector maintained stable growth, with total cultivated land exceeding 914,000 hectares, including more than 634,000 hectares of perennial crops.

Lam Dong currently has approximately 109,500 hectares of high-tech agricultural production, including around 1,400 hectares applying smart farming technologies.

The province's livestock herd reached nearly 2 million head, while poultry numbered approximately 23.6 million. Marine capture production exceeded 120,000 tonnes, and aquaculture output totaled nearly 13,900 tonnes.

Industry and Investment Maintain Positive Momentum

The industrial sector recorded a growth rate of 9.46%, while the Industrial Production Index (IIP) increased by 8.7%.

During the first half of the year, Lam Dong approved seven new projects in industrial clusters with a combined investment of VND 403 billion. The province also attracted seven additional projects to industrial parks, including one foreign direct investment (FDI) project and six domestic investment projects.

Industrial parks across the province currently host 244 valid projects with total registered investment exceeding VND 46.728 trillion and US$515 million. The average occupancy rate has reached 53.88%.

Trade, Services and Tourism Continue to Recover

Trade, services and tourism maintained strong growth during the first half of the year.

Total retail sales and service revenue reached VND 97.607 trillion, an increase of 17.3% compared with the same period last year.

Retail sales exceeded VND 60 trillion, while accommodation, food services and tourism generated VND 19.84 trillion in revenue.

Lam Dong welcomed approximately 11.99 million visitors during the first six months of the year, up 18.1% year-on-year. International arrivals reached 825,000, an increase of 18.6%.

The province currently has 4,271 accommodation establishments offering 67,674 rooms, along with 99 tourist attractions and destinations.

Investment Attraction and Business Development Remain Strong

During the first six months of 2026, approximately 2,600 new enterprises were established in Lam Dong Province with total registered capital exceeding VND 12 trillion. Another 558 enterprises resumed operations.

The province attracted 35 new investment projects with total registered capital of more than VND 56.118 trillion and US$200,000, including four FDI projects.

Social Welfare Indicators Continue to Improve

Social welfare indicators continued to show positive results across the province.

Lam Dong recorded 7.55 doctors and 23 hospital beds per 10,000 people. Health insurance coverage reached 92.5%, while 65.55% of public schools met national standards.

The urban solid waste collection and treatment rate reached 93.65%. About 82% of the urban population had access to clean water, and the province's urbanization rate stood at 45%.

During the press conference, leaders of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee and representatives of provincial departments and agencies also provided additional information and answered questions raised by journalists.

Provincial leaders reaffirmed their determination to implement comprehensive solutions to achieve the socio-economic development targets for 2026, creating a solid foundation for sustainable economic growth, strengthening social welfare and improving people's quality of life.
