Lam Dong Inaugurates Gia Nghia Central Square and Integrated Museum–Library–Park Complex

Lam Dong Province officially inaugurated the Gia Nghia Central Square and the Integrated Museum–Library–Park Complex on July 25, creating the largest public square in Vietnam's Central Highlands and South Central Coast region and marking a major milestone in the province's urban and cultural infrastructure development.

The ceremony was attended by senior national and provincial leaders, including Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense; Le Xuan The, Member of the Party Central Committee and Commander of Military Region 7. Provincial leaders attending the ceremony included Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Ho Van Muoi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee; Dang Hong Sy, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee; Luu Van Trung, Deputy Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Council; and Pham Thi Phuc, Deputy Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lam Dong Province.

Landmark investment in western Lam Dong

Speaking at the ceremony, Ho Van Muoi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, described the completion of the two projects as a significant milestone in shaping new development space and improving residents' quality of life.

The Gia Nghia Central Square and the Integrated Museum–Library–Park Complex cover a combined area of more than 24 hectares with a total investment of nearly VND 525 billion (approximately US$20 million).

According to provincial authorities, the square is:

  • One of only four public squares in Vietnam featuring a waterfront landscape.
  • Among five squares nationwide integrated with a commercial center.
  • Expected to rank among the 10 largest public squares in Vietnam.
  • Currently the largest public square in the Central Highlands and South Central Coast regions.

The newly completed facilities are expected to strengthen the province's cultural infrastructure while providing a modern public space for political events, cultural festivals, educational activities and community recreation.

New civic landmark

Provincial leaders said the projects demonstrate the central government's continued support for Lam Dong's development and reflect close coordination among government agencies, contractors and local communities throughout implementation.

The provincial government plans to transform Gia Nghia Central Square into the primary venue for major political, economic and cultural events in western Lam Dong while promoting the province's cultural identity and investment potential.

Officials also stressed the importance of ensuring effective management and long-term operation of the facilities to maximize public investment benefits.

Outstanding contributors recognized

During the event, the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee presented certificates of merit to organizations, individuals and local households for their contributions to land acquisition, site clearance and accelerated project implementation.

The Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee presents certificates of merit to organizations, individuals and local residents for their contributions to project implementation and site clearance.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, attendees enjoyed a cultural performance comprising three segments "Villages in Celebration," "Gratitude," and "Lam Dong – Aspiration and Development,". The program featured performances by well-known Vietnamese singers including Hoa Minzy and Dao Ngoc Sang.

The provincial government also presented 15 gifts to disadvantaged families and policy beneficiary households in the Gia Nghia area.
