Lam Dong intensifies preparations for the upcoming elections
With the active engagement of the entire political system, Lam Dong Province is stepping up preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and members of People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term, ensuring compliance with legal procedures and readiness for Election Day on March 15.

Many tasks completed ahead of schedule
With a strong sense of responsibility and strict adherence to legal regulations, Lam Dong began preparations for the elections at an early stage. In implementing the plan of the Election Steering Committee, the Provincial Election Commission has closely followed legal provisions and guidance from central authorities. The Provincial Party Committee, the provincial Election Steering Committee, the Provincial Election Commission and relevant agencies and units have coordinated proactively and decisively.
As a result, election-related tasks have been implemented synchronously, in accordance with regulations, and all preparatory work has been completed ahead of schedule.
The Provincial Election Commission submitted to the National Election Council a proposal for the establishment of six electoral constituencies for National Assembly deputies, with 17 deputies to be elected. At the same time, it designated and announced 38 constituencies for the provincial People’s Council, with 85 members to be elected — three days ahead of schedule — and established 38 election boards for the provincial People’s Council four days ahead of the deadline.
Communes, wards and special administrative zones have designated and announced 1,004 constituencies for commune-level People’s Council elections, with 2,949 members to be elected. Commune-level People’s Committees have also established 2,301 polling stations and corresponding election teams.
One of the notable highlights of the province’s election preparations is the early completion of the consultation rounds for candidate nominations. The first consultation conference at the provincial level was organized seven days ahead of schedule, while communes, wards and special administrative zones completed theirs before December 10, 2025. The second consultation round was completed on schedule across all levels. The third round was finalized eight to ten days earlier than required.
The Provincial Election Commission compiled the official list of candidates for the National Assembly by constituency and submitted it to the National Election Council, which announced it in Resolution No. 151/NQ-HD BCQG dated February 14, 2026. The official list of candidates for the provincial People’s Council was also announced by the Provincial Election Commission on February 12, 2026 — 14 days earlier than stipulated. Commune-level election commissions likewise completed this process ahead of schedule.
Accordingly, the official list includes 29 candidates for National Assembly deputies in Lam Dong Province, 133 candidates for the provincial People’s Council and 4,981 candidates for commune-level People’s Councils, ensuring the required number and structure in line with regulations and guidance from competent authorities.
Preparations must be thorough to ensure the election is conducted as scheduled, in a fair, transparent, democratic and safe manner.
Comrade Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee and Head of the provincial National Assembly delegation said during an inspection of election preparations in Bao Lam 1 Commune.
From February 27 to March 5, 2026, candidates for the 16th National Assembly in the province conducted voter meetings and election campaigning activities — nine days ahead of schedule. Candidates for the provincial People’s Council began meeting voters on March 5 and are expected to largely complete these activities by March 10.

Creating momentum toward the nationwide election day
According to the Department of Home Affairs — the standing body of the Provincial Election Commission — election dossiers and materials were printed from February 13 to February 23, 2026, during the Lunar New Year holiday. These materials have since been distributed and handed over to election boards for the National Assembly and the provincial People’s Council as well as election teams across the province, ensuring timely public posting of candidate lists and candidate profiles in accordance with regulations.
Many electronic information portals, newspapers, broadcasting stations and social media platforms have published the official candidate lists. In addition, the Provincial Election Commission has instructed commune-level authorities to apply various appropriate methods to provide candidate information to voters. Printed lists have also been delivered to households in remote and isolated areas with limited access to information technology, ensuring all voters can fully review candidates' profiles.
Commune-level People’s Committees have actively coordinated with local police forces to compile and publicly post voter lists in accordance with regulations and guidance from the public security sector. According to statistics, the province has 2,729,651 voters eligible to elect commune-level People’s Council representatives and 2,754,314 voters eligible to elect National Assembly deputies and provincial People’s Council members.
The Provincial Election Commission has also established inspection teams to review the progress of election preparations at the grassroots level.
Immediately after the Lunar New Year holiday in 2026, working delegations led by provincial leaders conducted on-site inspections in multiple localities, focusing on key areas such as infrastructure preparations, communication activities and plans to ensure security and public order. Local authorities were requested to closely follow the timeline and complete all remaining tasks in accordance with regulations, creating the most favorable conditions for voters to cast their ballots safely and contributing to the successful organization of the election across the province.
Communication activities across Lam Dong are creating a vibrant atmosphere leading up to the nationwide election day. At the same time, the province is paying close attention to safeguarding political security and social order while firmly countering any misinformation or distortions related to the election.
As Election Day for the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term approaches, Lam Dong Province, with careful preparations, proactive planning and strong public consensus, is ready to ensure that March 15 becomes a true festival of democracy — conducted safely, transparently and successfully across the province.
