Lam Dong launches 2026 Action Month for the Poor
On October 15, the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee launched the 2026 Peak Month for the Poor. The ceremony was held in person at the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee hall and connected online with 124 communes, wards and special zones across the province.

At the provincial venue, attendees included Dang Hong Sy, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, and Pham Thi Phuc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.

The event was also attended by Pham Trieu, member of the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Board, Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Head of the provincial "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Committee; Ha Thi Hanh, member of the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Board and Vice Chairwoman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Dinh Van Tuan, member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; along with leaders of provincial departments, agencies and organizations, and representatives of corporations, businesses and religious organizations across the province.

At the ceremony, Pham Thi Phuc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, read an appeal calling for contributions to Lam Dong's 2026 "For the Poor" Fund.
The appeal called on agencies, organizations, businesses and individuals both within and outside the province to continue supporting the fund, helping advance sustainable poverty reduction and strengthen social welfare.
Addressing the ceremony, Dang Hong Sy, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, stressed that supporting poor and vulnerable people and those facing difficult circumstances is an ongoing responsibility of the entire political system and society. Poverty reduction, he said, should go hand in hand with socio-economic development, social progress and equity, and improvements in people's quality of life.

Since 2025, the provincial "For the Poor" Fund has mobilized more than VND 75 billion to support poor and disadvantaged people. The 2024-2025 program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing completed 5,691 homes, reaching 100% of its target.

Through the "For the Poor" Fund, the province allocated VND 124 billion to support the construction of 1,627 new homes and repairs to 917 homes for disadvantaged households. In the first months of 2026, the province also provided VND 2 billion to help 100 households in 10 communes develop livelihood models.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also acknowledged and praised the contributions of Vietnam Fatherland Front committees at all levels, socio-political organizations, agencies, businesses, benefactors and residents to social welfare efforts.

Despite the progress made, some residents in the province continue to face difficult living conditions, with certain households lacking secure housing or stable sources of income. Poverty reduction therefore needs to be pursued in a coordinated and sustained manner, combining immediate support with long-term solutions that help people access social welfare policies and create opportunities to improve household livelihoods.

Vietnam Fatherland Front committees at all levels should continue renewing their mobilization methods and encourage greater participation from the business community, organizations, individuals and benefactors. At the same time, supervision should be strengthened to ensure support resources reach the right beneficiaries and are used effectively.
Dang Hong Sy, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee said.

The Standing Deputy Secretary also asked local authorities to proactively review the actual needs of individual households and provide appropriate support, with a focus on livelihoods, job creation, vocational training and technology transfer. These measures are intended to help residents increase their incomes and gradually achieve sustainable poverty reduction.

He also called on the Standing Board of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to continue coordinating closely with agencies, units and localities to organize practical and effective activities; promptly recognize outstanding collectives and individuals; and replicate successful models and innovative approaches to supporting disadvantaged people. These efforts are expected to strengthen national unity and spread a spirit of compassion throughout the community.

The 2026 Peak Month for the Poor will run from October 17 to November 18, 2026. In response to the appeal, agencies, organizations, units, corporations and businesses pledged to contribute more than VND 15 billion to the provincial "For the Poor" Fund at the launch ceremony. Total contributions to the fund in 2026 have so far exceeded VND 28 billion.

On the occasion, the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee presented certificates of merit to 11 collectives and three individuals for their significant contributions to social welfare in the province during 2025 - 2026.
