Lam Dong launches second round of fresh-flower gateway design contest at Prenn Pass
The Lam Dong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has officially launched the second round of a competition to design a gateway made of fresh flowers at the foot of Prenn Pass (Xuan Huong - Da Lat Ward), aiming to seek creative ideas that enhance the landscape and promote Lam Dong as the “land of thousands of flowers” to domestic and international visitors.

According to the organizing committee, submitted designs must clearly convey the destination brand identity, honor the traditional cultural values of Lam Dong and its people, and comply with architectural and traffic planning requirements. Designs should ensure safety, sustainability, and harmony with the surrounding urban space.
In addition to evoking local traditions and indigenous cultural values, the designs are expected to highlight the distinctive characteristics of Da Lat – Lam Dong, particularly through images of fresh flowers, natural scenery and the Central Highlands climate, while reflecting a modern and civilized spirit consistent with the image of a tourism-oriented hub .
The gateway is envisioned as a symbolic landscape landmark, creating a strong first impression at one of the main entrances to Da Lat.

The competition is open to professional and non-professional artists and architects, as well as individuals with talent in architecture and fine arts, both in Viet Nam and abroad. Each individual or team may submit up to three entries.
Entries must be presented on A3-sized paper, including layout plans, elevations and cross-sections at appropriate scales, clearly illustrating the design concept and proposed implementation of key components. Submissions must also include 3D perspective images, simulations of the surrounding space and night-time lighting effects. All entries must be original works that have not been previously published or submitted elsewhere.
In addition to design drawings, each entry must be accompanied by a concept summary and design statement, specifying proportions, structural solutions and proposed construction materials for the gateway.
The submission deadline is March 31, 2026. Results and the award ceremony are expected to be announced in late May 2026.
The jury will select five outstanding designs for the final round, awarding one first prize worth VND 50 million and four consolation prizes, each worth VND 7 million, along with certificates of merit. The first-prize design will be considered by the Lam Dong provincial People’s Committee for actual construction at the foot of Prenn Pass.
Previously, the first round of the competition was held over a short period of 13 days (from September 17 to 30, 2025), during which three designs were submitted. After the deadline was extended to October 31, 2025, the organizing committee received a total of eight eligible entries from five authors.
