Lam Dong Launches VND 6.8 Billion Community-Based Eye Care Project
On January 30, the Lam Dong Department of Health held a workshop to launch the project titled “Promoting Equity through a Community-Based Eye Care Model.”
The workshop was part of the project framework funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Fred Hollows Foundation.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Huynh Thanh Huynh, Deputy Director of the Lam Dong Department of Health and Head of the provincial Project Management Board, said that the implementation of the project for the 2025–2029 period marks an important foundation for developing a community-based eye care model in Lam Dong Province. The project aligns with the Government’s orientation under Viet Nam’s National Program for the Prevention of Blindness for the 2016–2020 period, with a vision toward 2030.

In Lam Dong, the project has a total budget of more than VND 6.8 billion. Of this amount, nearly VND 6.2 billion comes from non-refundable foreign non-governmental aid, while the counterpart funding is nearly VND 620 million. The project will be implemented from 2025 to 2029 across communes in Lam Dong Province.

Project activities aim to improve equitable access to eye care services for communities, particularly vulnerable groups, while promoting equity in eye care within the health system and related sectors.
