Lam Dong Launches Year-End Tourism Stimulus Campaign

Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc Phuc has instructed relevant agencies to proactively and flexibly implement the roadmap set out by the Provincial People's Committee, ensuring that a series of year-end events are organized effectively to stimulate tourism demand.

On the afternoon of July 7, Nguyen Ngoc Phuc, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, chaired a working session with relevant agencies to review preparations for tourism promotion activities following the reopening of Lien Khuong International Airport and the 11th Da Lat Flower Festival 2026. Representatives of provincial departments and agencies attended the meeting.

At the meeting, local authorities and relevant agencies reported on preparations for promotional programs associated with the Da Lat Flower Festival, air route development, and tourism stimulus activities planned for the second half of 2026.

Air Connectivity and Flower Festival Drive Tourism Recovery

Regarding aviation development plans, Van Bach Anh Tuan, Acting Deputy Director of Lien Khuong International Airport, said the airport is scheduled to resume operations on August 19, 2026. The airport is expected to handle 36 to 40 flights per day, serving an estimated 816,000 passengers during the final four months of the year.

In the initial phase, Lam Dong will prioritize working with domestic airlines to restore previously operated routes that have demonstrated strong commercial performance.

"Routes connecting Da Lat with Thanh Hoa, Hue, Can Tho, and Phu Quoc will be prioritized. We will also cooperate with airlines, travel companies and localities with strong tourism and trade potential to launch new routes or increase flight frequencies," Tuan said.

Regarding aviation promotion, Nghiem Dinh Hieu, Director of the Lam Dong Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, said the province will focus on markets that have traditionally generated stable visitor flows, including South Korea (Incheon, Jeju and Muan), Thailand (Bangkok), China, and Taiwan.

"We also propose expanding promotional efforts to high-potential markets such as Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong to diversify Lam Dong's international visitor base," Hieu added.

Reporting on preparations for the 11th Da Lat Flower Festival 2026, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said the festival is scheduled to take place in late December.

Under the theme "Da Lat – A Symphony of Flowers and Music," the festival is expected to serve not only as a celebration for local residents but also as a major event for domestic and international visitors.

Preparations are progressing across relevant agencies and localities. Key highlights, including flower markets and themed flower streets throughout Da Lat, are already being planned and implemented.

Tourism businesses attending the meeting proposed strengthening international promotion of Lam Dong's tourism potential and competitive advantages. They also recommended targeting nearby markets with short-haul, affordable flights to attract more visitors to year-end festivals, while developing a dedicated flower exhibition and trade fair venue to enhance visitor experiences.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Phuc emphasized that the reopening of Lien Khuong International Airport, together with a series of major events scheduled for the end of the year, will provide strong momentum for tourism recovery and serve as an important driver toward achieving Lam Dong's double-digit GRDP growth target.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Phuc also instructed relevant agencies to develop detailed plans for restoring domestic air services while expanding new flight routes. Supporting services—including flight schedules, ground operations and promotional campaigns—must also be carefully prepared to maximize tourism demand.

For the series of events beginning in September, particularly the 11th Da Lat Flower Festival, preparations should begin immediately. Detailed plans covering budgets, implementation schedules and participating organizations must be finalized to ensure the events are professionally organized, leave a lasting impression and effectively stimulate tourism during the year-end travel season.
