Lam Dong Leaders Receive the Indian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City
On May 27, Lam Dong provincial leaders welcomed Dr. Vipra Pandey, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, at a diplomatic meeting aimed at strengthening economic, tourism and cultural cooperation between Lam Dong Province and Indian partners.
The meeting was chaired by Nguyen Minh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee.

Vietnam–India strategic ties continue to expand
Speaking at the reception, Vice Chairman Nguyen Minh emphasized that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and India has continued to strengthen across multiple sectors in recent years.

According to the provincial leader, Lam Dong possesses significant potential and competitive advantages to expand cooperation with Indian partners, particularly in tourism, high-tech agriculture, processing industries, renewable energy, science and technology, and innovation.
Trade and investment cooperation gains momentum
Provincial authorities reported that Lam Dong’s exports to India in 2025 were estimated at approximately USD 234.4 million, accounting for around 7.2% of the province’s total export turnover.
Key export products included alumina, silk yarn and agricultural produce such as vegetables and fruits.
Lam Dong currently hosts two Indian-invested projects with a combined registered capital of approximately USD 9 million.

Tourism identified as key growth sector
Vice Chairman Nguyen Minh highlighted India as a highly promising international tourism market for Lam Dong, aligning with the province’s strategy to develop green tourism, high-end resort services and wellness tourism.
The province expressed interest in increasing destination promotion activities, welcoming tourism survey delegations and exploring the possibility of direct flights connecting India with Lam Dong to facilitate travel and commercial exchanges.

Dr. Vipra Pandey said he was impressed by Lam Dong’s climate, natural landscapes and development potential.
The Consul General noted that approximately 900,000 Indian tourists visited Vietnam in 2025, with visitor numbers expected to continue rising in 2026. Many Indian travelers, he added, have shown growing interest in destinations in Lam Dong Province.

He also proposed studying the possibility of launching direct air routes between India and Lam Dong to further promote tourism, trade and investment cooperation.
Indian businesses seek opportunities in Lam Dong
According to Dr. Pandey, several major Indian companies are currently exploring opportunities in the Vietnamese market and are interested in cooperating with Lam Dong in sectors including information technology and high-tech agriculture.
Two Indian business delegations are expected to visit Vietnam in the near future and are seek opportunities to connect with Lam Dong authorities and enterprises.
In addition, the Indian Consulate General expressed interest in coordinating cultural exhibitions in Lam Dong featuring shared historical and cultural values between Vietnam and India, with the aim of strengthening people-to-people exchanges and bilateral friendship.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Minh reaffirmed that Lam Dong would continue creating favorable conditions to promote cooperation activities with Indian localities and businesses in the coming years, contributing to the further development of the Vietnam–India friendship and partnership.
