Authorities, organizations and local communities across Lam Dong are intensifying efforts to eliminate temporary and substandard housing, helping poor and near-poor households secure stable living conditions and improve long-term livelihoods.

Backed by state support programs and widespread community contributions, thousands of families have received assistance to build or repair homes in recent years, strengthening social welfare and sustainable poverty reduction efforts throughout the province.

Mobilizing society-wide support

Housing support programs for disadvantaged households, low-income families and residents affected by natural disasters have been implemented through both public funding and social contributions.

Support levels typically range from 40 million to 80 million VND for newly built homes and around 25 million VND for home repairs.

Following the implementation of the two-tier local government model, Lam Dong has mobilized the entire political system and community organizations to help disadvantaged residents secure stable housing.

Thousands of new homes have been completed, improving living conditions while reinforcing solidarity and social compassion across the province.

Within just one month after the establishment of the newly reorganized Lam Dong Province, authorities completed construction of 4,328 new homes and repaired to 1,363 houses, with total funding exceeding 324 billion VND.

Of those, more than 3,800 homes were delivered through a national housing support program launched by the Prime Minister for poor and near-poor households.

Beyond state funding, local governments, businesses, philanthropists and residents have also contributed labor, construction materials and financial support, enabling many homes to be built with improved durability and living standards.

Authorities say the coordinated effort has significantly reduced the number of temporary and substandard houses across the province.

Expanding sustainable social welfare programs

Building on those results, Lam Dong continues to implement broader social welfare policies aimed at creating sustainable livelihoods and ensuring that no one is left behind.

The province is also promoting a province-wide emulation campaign in 2026 focused on eliminating temporary and dilapidated housing.

Officials describe housing support for revolutionary contributors, poor households and near-poor families as both a major political responsibility and a deeply humanitarian mission.

Under the program, local authorities are required to accurately identify eligible households, develop clear implementation roadmaps and effectively mobilize available resources to complete housing targets.

At the same time, the province continues diversifying funding sources by encouraging society-wide participation under the principle that “those who can contribute labor contribute labor, those who can contribute resources contribute resources.”

Alongside housing support, provincial departments and localities are also addressing land and planning issues while expanding poverty reduction measures, vocational training, employment support, preferential loans, healthcare access and educational assistance.

Authorities say the housing program not only helps families stabilize their lives and develop sustainable livelihoods, but also strengthens public confidence in social welfare policies and sustainable development strategies.

Continuing efforts to eliminate temporary and substandard housing

Lam Dong is continuing to accelerate its campaign to eliminate temporary and substandard housing by building and repairing thousands of homes for disadvantaged households and policy beneficiary families.

In 2025 alone, the province built and repaired 5,691 houses and plans to eliminate hundreds more temporary houses in 2026.

The campaign is part of the nationwide movement launched by the Government to eliminate temporary and substandard housing and improve living conditions for vulnerable groups.

Officials say newly built homes not only provide shelter but also create opportunities for families to improve their quality of life and gradually escape poverty sustainably.

To sustain progress, authorities emphasize the need for continued policy development in areas such as vocational training, employment generation, credit access, healthcare and education linked to sustainable development goals and narrowing regional disparities.

The province is also promoting the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations in mobilizing businesses, charities and individuals to support social welfare activities, particularly housing assistance for poor and vulnerable households.

Officials say these poverty reduction programs are gradually transforming rural, border and ethnic minority communities by improving infrastructure, expanding access to clean water and information services, and creating conditions for economic development.

Many households benefiting from livelihood and production support programs have already escaped poverty sustainably and become more active in community activities, cultural preservation and the application of science and technology in local economic development.
