Lam Dong-Mondulkiri cooperation strengthens border security

On September 8, at the headquarters of the Mondulkiri Provincial Police in the Kingdom of Cambodia, the police forces of Lam Dong and Mondulkiri provinces held a conference to review cooperation during the first six months of 2026 and set out priorities for the months ahead.

The conference was co-chaired by Major General Truong Minh Duong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Lam Dong Provincial Police, and Major General Chea Chettra, Director of the Mondulkiri Provincial Police.

Also attending was Major General Chhay Sokha, Deputy Director in charge of Cambodia-Vietnam border affairs.

During the conference, the two provincial police forces reviewed their coordination results during the first six months of 2026.

The two sides maintained the exchange of professional information and coordinated in verifying and handling cases related to security and public order, as well as in preventing and combating crime.

They also worked together to ensure security and safety for official delegations traveling between the two provinces for working visits, meetings and exchanges, as well as visits and greetings marking important occasions in both countries and localities.

Facilitating cross-border trade and crime prevention

Based on the results achieved, the two provincial police forces agreed on cooperation priorities for the remaining months of 2026.

The two sides will continue to improve the effectiveness of information sharing on security, public order and safety along the border, while creating favorable conditions for cross-border trade and contributing to the socio-economic development and livelihoods of people in both provinces.

They also agreed to strengthen efforts to prevent and combat cross-border crime, particularly through closer coordination and information exchange between the two sides.

The two sides will also study the organization of cultural, artistic and sports exchange activities to further strengthen friendship and cooperation, with a view to the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cambodia, which will be marked on June 24, 2027.
