Free heart screenings for children have been held in Lam Dong for many years.

Specialized Care Through Collaboration

In cooperation with a team of cardiovascular specialists from Tam Duc Heart Hospital, the Association is organizing the screening campaign to support the early detection of heart conditions that may require medical intervention or surgery.

The program is scheduled to run from 7:30 a.m. to noon at the following locations:

• May 15: For residents of Di Linh and surrounding districts at the Di Linh Regional Medical Center.

• May 16: For residents of Da Lat and surrounding areas at the Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital of Traditional Medicine.

The screenings are available to patients ranging from newborns to people aged 60 who have been diagnosed with or show symptoms of congenital heart disease, valvular heart disease, or coronary artery disease. Symptoms requiring consultation include shortness of breath, chest pain, cyanosis, palpitations, or fainting.

Patients will undergo echocardiography to support accurate diagnosis and receive treatment advice. Those who have previously undergone heart surgery are also encouraged to attend for follow-up examinations and postoperative care consultations.

The Lam Dong Association supports disadvantaged patients in applying for heart surgery sponsorship.

After screening, pediatric patients from newborns to 18 years old who are recommended for surgery will have all surgical costs fully covered at Tam Duc Heart Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. The sponsorship is funded by Children Action (Switzerland), VinaCapital (USA), the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Support of Poor Patients, and the Understanding the Heart Fund.

According to medical experts, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide, even surpassing cancer. Cardiovascular screening plays a crucial role in identifying risks and detecting conditions such as coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, and congenital heart defects at early stages.

Early diagnosis enables timely intervention, helps prevent life-threatening complications, and serves as an important measure to protect the health of patients and their families.
