Lam Dong Phalaenopsis Orchids Maintain a Firm Foothold in Tet Flower Market
Thanks to continuous improvements in product quality and the expansion of increasingly professional distribution networks, phalaenopsis orchids from Lam Dong Province continue to maintain a strong presence in Viet Nam’s Tet flower market.

For the 2026 Lunar New Year, growers in Lam Dong supplied the market with tens of thousands of phalaenopsis orchid pots in a wide range of colors. Produced under high-tech greenhouse systems, the orchids are cultivated through automated control of temperature, lighting, and nutrition, ensuring uniform growth, timely blooming, and stable quality for major urban markets nationwide.
Despite mounting competition from imported flowers and other growing regions, Lam Dong orchids retain their advantage thanks to proactive production planning, flexible pricing, and consistent quality. Many farms have clearly segmented their products to serve both the peak Tet season and year-round market demand.

Investment in breeding and cultivation techniques has also played a key role. Young orchid plants are initially nurtured in warmer climates before being transferred to the Central Highlands, a process that enhances root development, bud formation, flower durability, and overall commercial value. This combination of favorable natural conditions and advanced technology has strengthened the long-term competitiveness of Lam Dong’s phalaenopsis orchids.

According to the Da Lat Flower Association, as of early 2026, Lam Dong has around 80 hectares under phalaenopsis orchid cultivation, with an annual output of approximately 16 million pots. Of this total, about 11 million pots are consumed during the Tet season alone. In the coming period, the province’s flower industry plans to introduce new licensed orchid varieties and further apply advanced technologies to improve product quality and expand both domestic and export markets.
