Tran Thanh Duy, Deputy Director of the Lam Dong Department of Science and Technology, receives a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Science and Technology for outstanding achievements in promoting and implementing IPv6 under the IPv6 For Gov Program (2021–2025), contributing to national digital transformation and Vietnam’s digital infrastructure development.

As Vietnam accelerates national digital transformation under Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, Lam Dong has identified IPv6 as a critical foundation for building a modern, synchronized, secure, and efficient digital infrastructure.

From the early stages of the IPv6 For Gov Program, the province proactively developed a structured transition roadmap based on the “three phases – ten steps” model guided by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC).

After five years of implementation, Lam Dong has achieved significant milestones, including the completion of IPv6 address planning for the province’s entire information technology network and services; successful migration of the provincial web portal, online public service portal, and government email system; DNS conversion and DNSSEC deployment; independent ASN registration and simultaneous IPv4/IPv6 broadcasting on both domestic and global internet networks.

The province has also successfully implemented IPv6 dual-stack architecture across its dedicated government data network from the provincial to commune levels, modernized campus networks and centralized data centers, and migrated 358 government websites, software systems, and applications to IPv6.

These accomplishments demonstrate strong commitment from provincial leaders, coordinated efforts among government agencies, and the effective implementation capacity of the Department of Science and Technology.

According to VNNIC statistics released in April 2026, Lam Dong’s IPv6 adoption rate reached 71.95%, placing the province among Vietnam’s leading localities and making it a standout performer in the Central Highlands and Central Vietnam regions.

Creating New Opportunities for Digital Development

Beyond achieving a high IPv6 adoption rate, Lam Dong has established itself as an important hub within Vietnam’s internet technical community.

In 2023, the province successfully co-hosted the VNIX-NOG National Internet Exchange Conference in Da Lat, attracting more than 150 network engineers and internet experts from Vietnam and abroad. The event not only promoted the province’s image but also reinforced its standing within the national internet community.

Alongside infrastructure investment, the province has prioritized workforce development. Specialized IPv6 training programs have been organized regularly with support from VNNIC, helping information technology personnel strengthen technical expertise and ensuring secure and stable operation of systems after migration.

Speaking at a recent conference, Tran Thanh Duy, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, noted that Lam Dong’s success stems from closely following national IPv6 policies and maintaining strong coordination among government agencies, telecommunications providers, technology partners, and VNNIC.

The province has identified IPv6 migration for data centers, campus networks, routers, firewalls, and switches as a strategic priority, providing the foundation for future digital platforms and services. The province has also consistently adhered to the “three phases – ten steps” roadmap to minimize risks and ensure uninterrupted system operations.

These achievements position Lam Dong as a model for IPv6 implementation within government agencies and contribute to the development of a modern, secure, and sustainable digital infrastructure supporting Vietnam’s digital transformation agenda.

Looking Ahead

Building on these achievements, Lam Dong is preparing a new action plan to implement the IPv6-Only Transition Promotion Program for the 2026–2030 period in line with the Ministry of Science and Technology’s guidance.

The province will focus on further modernizing digital infrastructure, strengthening cybersecurity capabilities, and expanding IPv6 deployment across digital platforms, Internet of Things (IoT) systems, smart city applications, and digital services for citizens and businesses.

At the VNNIC Internet Conference 2026 and the closing conference of the IPv6 For Gov Program (2021–2025), the Lam Dong Department of Science and Technology was honored with a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Science and Technology for its outstanding contributions to IPv6 deployment and digital infrastructure development.

Two individuals also received ministerial commendations: Le Dang Khoa, Deputy Director of the Lam Dong Innovation and Digital Transformation Center, and Hoang Van Duc, specialist of the Postal and Telecommunications Division under the Department of Science and Technology.
