Social welfare activities for the 2026 Lunar New Year in Lam Dong have not only brought warmth to communities, but also strongly conveyed the message of “leaving no one behind,” reaffirming the long-standing principle that “the people are the foundation.”

“The people as the foundation” in action

The principle that “the people are the foundation” has been a guiding thread throughout Vietnam’s revolutionary history and was once again reaffirmed at the 14th National Party Congress. This commitment is reflected not only in policy direction, but also through concrete actions and tangible outcomes. Accordingly, the effectiveness of policies must be measured by improvements in people’s livelihoods, social consensus, and public trust.

In Lam Dong, this principle has been translated into a wide range of programs and projects closely tied to grassroots life. Investments in rural transport infrastructure, electricity, clean water, schools and health stations, along with policies on sustainable poverty reduction, livelihood support, and crop and livestock restructuring, have all aimed to stabilize living conditions and raise incomes for local residents.

In particular, implementing Directive No. 55-CT/TW dated December 22, 2025, issued by the Party Central Committee's Secretariat on organizing the Lunar New Year of Binh Ngo 2026, the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee promulgated Directive No. 05-CT/TU dated January 14, 2026. The directive calls for thorough preparations to ensure that people welcome the new year and celebrate the traditional Tet in a safe, joyful, healthy and economical manner. It also aims to create a positive momentum from the very first year of implementing the Resolutions of Party congresses at all levels for the 2025–2030 term, the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, and toward the successful organization of elections for the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term.

The directive emphasizes strengthening unity within the Party, fostering social consensus, and promoting the tradition of mutual support and solidarity. It calls for the effective implementation of social welfare policies and greater attention to both the material and spiritual lives of the people. Social resources are to be mobilized and used efficiently to care for the poor, disadvantaged groups, policy beneficiary families, ethnic minority communities, people in remote and difficult areas, disaster-affected regions, border areas and islands, ensuring that every household can celebrate Tet. At the same time, efforts are being accelerated to repair and rebuild homes and essential public facilities damaged by storms and floods, enabling people to enjoy a safe and stable Tet holiday.

Leaving no one behind

In the days leading up to the Lunar New Year of Binh Ngo 2026, Lam Dong organized numerous delegations led by provincial leaders to visit, extend New Year greetings and present gifts to veteran revolutionaries, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, war invalids and martyrs’ families, people with meritorious service to the revolution, prestigious figures in ethnic minority communities, poor and near-poor households, disadvantaged families, as well as armed forces units and personnel on duty during Tet in mountainous areas, border regions and Phu Quy Special Zone.

During these visits, provincial leaders urged local Party committees and authorities to enhance the effectiveness of grassroots governance, thoroughly review support needs, and continue caring for people’s livelihoods—especially policy beneficiaries and disadvantaged groups—by ensuring the comprehensive implementation of social welfare policies.

Across the province, localities have actively mobilized resources to support policy beneficiary families, poor and near-poor households, and disadvantaged families so that every household can celebrate Tet. Agencies, mass organizations, businesses and benefactors have also joined hands through practical initiatives such as “Zero-dong Tet Markets” and the “Humanitarian Tet – Loving Spring” program, delivering thousands of gift packages with the spirit of solidarity and compassion.

In Lac Duong Commune, where ethnic minorities account for more than 82% of the population, traditional "banh chung" prepared by union members, teachers and local residents were delivered directly to poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households ahead of the Lunar New Year. The initiative helped ease hardships and enabled ethnic minority families to enjoy a warm and meaningful Tet. Cil Jim, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lac Duong Commune, said the activity not only provided material support but also helped spread the spirit of great national unity, further promoting social welfare efforts and enabling disadvantaged people to celebrate Tet with greater joy and dignity.

As Lam Dong enters a new stage of development, caring for people’s livelihoods based on the principle that “the people are the foundation,” with citizens placed at the center, continues to be reaffirmed—aiming toward lasting prosperity and happiness for all.
