Lam Dong races to upgrade roads and urban spaces ahead of the 2026 Da Lat Flower Festival
Ahead of the 11th Da Lat Flower Festival in 2026, central wards in Da Lat are accelerating road upgrades and repairs, sidewalk improvements, and efforts to resolve site-clearance issues.

Repairing deteriorated roads
On many roads in central Da Lat, damaged pavement, potholes and standing water after rain have affected local travel. Some roads have already been patched but quickly deteriorated again, highlighting the need for more comprehensive repairs alongside inspections of drainage systems.

Similar conditions have been reported at the Nguyen Tu Luc - Tran Quoc Toan roundabout, as well as along Hoang Dieu, Nguyen Trai, Phan Boi Chau, Hai Ba Trung, Hai Thuong and the section of Hung Vuong slope at its intersection with Yersin Street.
On Trang Trinh Street, from the area near Xuan Huong Lake to the Nguyen Dinh Chieu - Trang Trinh intersection, the road surface is uneven, while some drainage sections are damaged or missing covers, affecting both traffic safety and the urban landscape.

Vo Dinh Lam, a resident of Van Kiep Street in Lam Vien - Da Lat Ward, said the road had undergone several minor repairs but quickly deteriorated again, with numerous potholes and pools of standing water appearing. Residents hope the authorities will soon carry out more substantial upgrades and consider widening the roadway in the future.

At the intersection of Yersin and Hung Vuong streets, the drainage system also needs to be inspected and assessed. Poor rainwater drainage can damage the road structure and cause newly paved asphalt surfaces to deteriorate quickly.
Meanwhile, residents have also called for early repairs to roadways and sidewalks and for measures to address standing water on several other streets.
In response, local authorities are reviewing damaged sections and carrying out temporary patching while accelerating larger road upgrade and rehabilitation projects to meet travel demand during the festival.

Accelerating urban improvement projects
The 11th Da Lat Flower Festival in 2026 is expected to attract large numbers of visitors. Local authorities are therefore stepping up efforts to upgrade transport infrastructure and improve the urban landscape.
According to Nguyen Duong Trung Huu, Deputy Head of the Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Affairs Division of Xuan Huong - Da Lat Ward, the Provincial People's Committee has approved in principle two road projects on Le Thi Hong Gam and Le Van Tam streets, with total investment of about VND 15 billion.

Le Thi Hong Gam Street is currently being upgraded, including both the roadway and sidewalks. Construction teams are concentrating manpower and equipment in an effort to complete the project before the 2026 Da Lat Flower Festival.
In addition, the Provincial People's Committee has approved asphalt resurfacing and sidewalk improvements on nine roads, eight of which are in Xuan Huong - Da Lat Ward, with total investment of about VND 51 billion. On Ho Tung Mau Street, crews are also urgently repairing, patching and resurfacing damaged sections.

In Cam Ly - Da Lat Ward, Nguyen Nam Thang, Head of the ward's Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Affairs Division, said that since the beginning of 2026, the locality has approved a plan for regular patching of roads showing signs of deterioration while awaiting larger-scale upgrade projects.
A VND 499 million repair package covering Hoang Van Thu, Thi Sach, Hai Ba Trung and several other roads is continuing, with completion expected before the Flower Festival. The Hoang Dieu Street asphalt resurfacing and upgrade project, managed by the Da Lat Area Construction Investment Project Management Board, is also being implemented as planned.

According to observations on October 14, machinery and workers were deployed on several roads in the wards in Da Lat areas to mill old asphalt, repair road surfaces and complete related works.
At the Nguyen Tu Luc - Tran Quoc Toan roundabout, crews are repairing damaged sections and patching the road surface to improve traffic conditions. Construction is being organized in line with actual conditions to minimize disruption to residents' daily lives, business activities and visitors' travel.

Construction plans are being adjusted to suit weather conditions at the end of the 2026 rainy season, helping prevent road surfaces from deteriorating quickly after repairs.
Clearing site obstacles, speeding up project completion
Alongside ongoing projects, resolving site-clearance issues at works that have already been allocated funding is an urgent requirement to complete transport infrastructure as soon as possible.

The Mai Xuan Thuong Street upgrading and renovation project in Lam Vien - Da Lat Ward has a total investment of more than VND 26.1 billion and stretches more than 620 meters. So far, 66 of 67 households have agreed to donate land for the project.
Major items such as asphalt paving, drainage and street lighting have reached about 82% to 95% completion. However, the project has yet to be completed in full because site clearance remains unresolved along a roughly 49-meter section involving one household.

At the section not yet handed over, the contractor has only been able to build a temporary dirt road about four meters wide. During rain, the surface becomes slippery, making travel difficult, especially for students and motorbike riders.
Dang Trinh Hung, a resident of Mai Xuan Thuong Street, said many households had agreed to donate land in the hope of having a wider and more convenient road. Residents hope authorities will continue mobilizing and finding solutions to resolve the remaining site-clearance issues so the project can be completed soon.

At the Nguyen Dinh Chieu - Suong Nguyet Anh - Yersin three-way intersection in Lam Vien - Da Lat Ward, the remaining households have handed over the site after a period of mobilization, allowing works to proceed on expanding the intersection and installing traffic lights. Construction units are accelerating progress, with completion expected before December 2026.
Residents' agreement to hand over land has created favorable conditions for works to move forward, gradually improving infrastructure in areas with high traffic density.

The 11th Da Lat Flower Festival in 2026 is also an opportunity for the locality to review and improve the quality of urban infrastructure, better meeting the travel and sightseeing needs of residents and visitors.
Completing these projects on schedule, together with repairing deteriorated sections and improving the urban landscape, will help create a more orderly cityscape and better serve residents and visitors during the 2026 Da Lat Flower Festival.
