Lam Dong Ranks 17th Nationwide in Economic Census Progress
On July 13, the Central Steering Committee for the 2026 Economic Census held a nationwide virtual conference to review progress in conducting the census.
The conference was chaired by Ngo Van Tuan, a member of the Party Central Committee, minister of finance, and head of the Central Steering Committee for the 2026 Economic Census.
At the Lam Dong connection point, attendees included Vo Ngoc Hiep, member of the Provincial Party Committee and vice chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with representatives from relevant provincial departments and agencies, as well as members of the Provincial Steering Committee for the 2026 Economic Census.
The 2026 Economic Census is a large-scale national initiative aimed at gathering comprehensive, objective, and accurate data on the operations of economic entities across the country. The data will provide a foundation for developing national development strategies and policies in the new stage.
According to the preliminary assessment, this year’s census has successfully collected data from nearly 6.3 million units, including enterprises, cooperatives, production and business establishments, religious and belief institutions, administrative agencies, public service units, associations, and non-governmental organizations.
The census made extensive use of digital technology and streamlined procedures, eliminating redundant indicators from survey questionnaires. All units also enhanced the integration and sharing of administrative data provided by tax and customs agencies.
Compared with previous censuses, the data compilation process was completed significantly faster. All assigned tasks were completed in line with the revised schedule, with preliminary results published on June 30, 2026—seven months ahead of the proposed plan.
During the first phase, Lam Dong collected data from more than 171,700 individual production and business establishments, 218 cooperative groups, and more than 1,900 religious and belief institutions.
In the second phase, the province surveyed 25,131 enterprises and 159 non-public service units, associations, and unions. The central authorities officially accepted Lam Dong’s results from the 2026 Economic Census and rated the province’s performance as excellent. Lam Dong ranked 17th among the country’s 34 provinces and cities.
Addressing the conference, Minister of Finance Ngo Van Tuan, Head of the Central Steering Committee for the 2026 Economic Census, said the census data would provide legally valid information for compiling statistics and rebasing national accounts. The data would also enable the government to measure the size of the economy more accurately and formulate socio-economic development strategies based on actual conditions.
Following the release of the preliminary results,
steering committees at all levels will continue to verify and clean the data and conduct in-depth thematic analyses. The official results of the 2026 Economic Census are expected to be published in the third quarter of
