Lam Dong residents join hands to beautify their homeland
With the motto "the people know, the people discuss, the people do, the people inspect, the people benefit," residents have proactively donated land, contributed funds, and voluntarily tended to flower-lined roads, helping transform the appearance of many residential areas in Lam Dong.
From Movement to Self-Awareness
Since 2021, Da Teh 2 commune has maintained activities such as planting flowers along roadsides, cleaning residential areas, and collecting household waste, gradually improving the rural landscape.
Phan Van Duong, Vice Chairman of the Da Teh 2 Commune People's Committee, said that the locality regularly mobilizes residents to participate in creating a bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment. Community clean-up activities are organized on the last Sunday of each month, with the participation of the Party Committee, local authorities, the Fatherland Front, and socio-political organizations. Roads, from main thoroughfares to hamlet lanes and alleys, are all being upgraded and tidied up.

Many routes that used to be dirt roads have now been paved with concrete, with familiar flowers such as purple ruellia, nine-o'clock flowers, chrysanthemums, and Madagascar periwinkles planted along both sides. These easy-to-grow and easy-to-care-for plants both save costs and add colour to village roads and alleys.
Notably, landscape preservation is not limited to campaign launches but also stems from each resident's sense of responsibility. Do Thi Nguyet, a resident of Hamlet 4, Da Teh 2 Commune, proactively cleans the area around her house and fully participates in clean-up and flower-planting activities initiated by the locality despite her advanced age. For her, a clean and beautiful neighbourhood is also a way of beautifying her own living environment.

Joining Hands to Build New Rural Areas
In Hamlet 2, Hoa Ninh Commune, the consensus among residents has contributed to improving the appearance of a road that was once narrow and in poor condition. In response to the “Bright, Green, Clean, Beautiful and Safe Route” mass mobilisation model, the local people voluntarily donated land and contributed funds alongside the State to upgrade the road, at a total cost of over VND 600 million. Upon completion, the road was equipped with an LED lighting system, security cameras, flags, and signboards, helping ensure safer and more convenient travel.

The change is clearly felt in the daily lives of the residents. Pham Van Phuc, a resident of Hamlet 2, shared that the wider road makes travelling and transporting goods much easier, while the muddy conditions during the rainy season and dust in dry weather are things of the past. Residents also have more space for walking and exercising.
After the road was completed, the hamlet continued to maintain the "Saturday for New Rural Areas" activity, mobilising residents to clean, care for, and protect the road. In this way, infrastructure improvements are followed by regular maintenance activities, ensuring that the project remains effective and the residential landscape is kept clean and beautiful.

Ensuring Sustainable Results
In implementing the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas," the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in Lam Dong Province has focused on mobilizing residents to maintain environmental cleanliness, tidy up village roads and alleys, and create a bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment. The motto "the people know, the people discuss, the people do, the people inspect, the people benefit" helps promote residents' active participation in local activities.

According to Bon Yo Soan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lam Dong Province, a bright, green, clean, and beautiful landscape is an important aspect of implementing the campaign. In recent years, localities have allocated resources to improve landscapes and maintain environmental cleanliness. Along with implementing the criteria for building new rural areas and civilized urban areas, residents' participation plays an important role in protecting the living environment in residential areas.
Lam Dong Province aims to have at least 42 communes meeting new rural standards, 4 communes meeting modern new rural standards, and 9 poor communes lifted out of poverty under the new standards by 2030. By 2035, the province aims to have 73 communes meeting new rural standards and 6 communes meeting modern new rural standards.

For these targets to yield tangible results, infrastructure investment must go hand in hand with maintaining environmental cleanliness and preserving landscapes. From proactively cleaning the areas around their homes to joining hands to build and maintain roads, every action taken by residents contributes to improving the appearance of their neighbourhoods. When the preservation of shared spaces becomes a regular practice, the achievements of building new rural areas can be sustained over the long term, contributing to an improved quality of life.
