Lam Dong reviews agricultural growth scenario to support double-digit economic target

On July 8, the Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Environment held a working session with the Provincial Statistics Office to review socio-economic development indicators related to the agriculture and environment.

Agriculture remains a key pillar of economic growth

According to the department, the agriculture and the environment continued to play a vital role in maintaining the province's economic stability during the first half of 2026.

Despite multiple challenges, the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector recorded growth of 5.05 percent, exceeding the six-month target scenario of 4.89 percent.

The result was one of the highlights of Lam Dong's overall economic performance, as provincial GRDP expanded by 7.90 percent in the first six months of the year, including 9.22 percent growth in the second quarter.

Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Phan Nguyen Hoang Tan said the province faces significant challenges in achieving its double-digit growth target for 2026, making it essential for every sector to reassess growth potential and develop practical implementation measures.

In response to the province's 180-day peak emulation campaign, we must go beyond reviewing statistics. Every indicator and every sector with growth potential must be carefully examined so that appropriate management solutions can be put in place.

He also instructed specialized agencies to work closely with the Provincial Statistics Office to update, analyze and evaluate growth scenarios, ensuring that statistical data accurately reflects actual production performance.

He emphasized that while the province should avoid pursuing achievements for their own sake, it must also ensure that no potential growth drivers are overlooked.

Reviewing every indicator for the year-end growth push

With considerable pressure expected during the second half of 2026, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will continue working with the Provincial Statistics Office to review every group of indicators and realistically assess the province's ability to meet its annual targets.

The department aims to achieve annual growth of approximately 5.1 percent in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector, providing an important contribution toward Lam Dong's overall economic growth target.

Officials said the review of growth scenarios demonstrates the sector's practical response to the province's 180-day emulation campaign. By reassessing every indicator, identifying remaining bottlenecks and maximizing growth potential, the agriculture and environment sector is determined to maintain its role as a key pillar of the provincial economy and make a substantive contribution to Lam Dong's year-end growth objectives
