Lam Dong's health sector steps up digital transformation in healthcare
Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi called on the leadership of the Department of Health to accelerate digital transformation as it handles a heavy workload requiring both speed and accuracy.

On the morning of October 19, Ho Van Muoi, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired a working session with the Department of Health to review the sector's performance in the first nine months of 2026 and discuss key tasks for the remaining months of the year.
The session was co-chaired by Dinh Van Tuan, member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. Members of the Department of Health's Board of Directors and leaders of its professional divisions also attended.

In the first nine months of 2026, the Lam Dong Department of Health recorded a number of positive results. Healthcare activities and the implementation of Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW on strengthening the protection, care and improvement of people's health showed progress, while the healthcare system continued to be consolidated and maintained stable operations following restructuring.
Preventive healthcare became more proactive in disease surveillance and control. Non-communicable disease management has been implemented in all 124 communes, wards and special zones.

Medical examination and treatment also saw improvements. A number of advanced and specialized techniques have been introduced, helping reduce patient transfers to higher-level hospitals, improve treatment quality and strengthen public confidence.
Administrative reform and digital transformation in healthcare also delivered positive results. Administrative procedures were handled on time, while healthcare services became more accessible.

However, patient satisfaction remains uneven across different areas, particularly in remote and disadvantaged locations. The province is also facing a shortage of doctors. It currently has only 7.5 doctors per 10,000 people, well below the target of 11 doctors per 10,000 people by 2030.
Recruitment across the health sector remains limited, with relatively few applicants each year. Attracting and retaining doctors at commune health stations and in mountainous and remote areas continues to pose significant challenges.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Tuan called on the entire health sector to vigorously implement Resolution No. 72, with greater initiative and creativity in carrying out its tasks. He also asked the Department of Health to review its ability to meet 2026 targets and focus on appropriate solutions.
“Periodic health examinations and free screening for residents need to be implemented more effectively, with closer coordination to ensure the required progress,” Dinh Van Tuan said.

Regarding public investment and the attraction of non-budget capital, Department of Health leaders were asked to identify specific bottlenecks and coordinate with relevant departments and agencies to propose priority investment areas. Public investment resources should be allocated in appropriate phases to avoid being spread too thinly.
Assigning tasks to the Department of Health for the coming period, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi stressed that the sector is currently facing an extremely heavy workload. He called on the department to take a proactive, innovative and creative approach in order to meet its 2026 targets.

Ho Van Muoi also called for free health examinations and screening to be expanded outside regular working hours, including Saturdays and Sundays. The entire health sector should support and guide localities in implementation, act decisively and avoid delays to stay on schedule.
During implementation, the Department of Health must step up digital transformation in support of medical examination and treatment. The department's leadership is responsible for implementing the project, learning from experience and consulting relevant advisory units. Effective digital transformation will improve the sector's ability to monitor both patients and its medical workforce.

Regarding efforts to attract non-budget investment and mobilize private-sector resources, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee asked the Department of Health to take a proactive role in advising on and completing the necessary documents and procedures so investors can accelerate project implementation.

Regarding the disbursement of public investment capital for projects managed by the Department of Health, the department was asked to review each locality and project in detail. Funding for projects deemed unfeasible should be reallocated promptly to avoid leaving capital unused.
